Responsibilities
- Developing and maintaining manufacturing processes to support the team with machining/assembly of a wide variety of components and electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Program CNC machining centers including turning, milling, grinding, and gear shaping.
- To ensure the manufacturing process is current; review and develop methods to optimize production.
- Analyze costs to meet manufacturing budgets.
- Provide assistance with researching, preparing, and presenting cost / benefit analysis of capital equipment.
- Select and specify tooling packages for all machine shop operations.
- Work closely with department peers to review new product concepts and designs for manufacturability.
- Troubleshoot production floor issues.
- Provide technical support to outside machining and assembly suppliers as required.
- Be aware of current and emerging technologies and manufacturing practices to increase company efficiencies.
- This position will require daily interaction with other departments and outside suppliers in support of operations.
Requirements
- Experience in a production manufacturing environment.
- Designing jigs, fixtures, and tooling
- Developing CNC programs
- Working knowledge of Solidworks/3D CAD software
- Mastercam or other CAM software.
- Understand Microsoft Office Suite to create documentation, spreadsheets, and databases to support manufacturing operations.
- Familiarity with developing machining processes for aluminum and ductile castings and a variety of alloy steels.
- Working knowledge of inspection gages, CMM's, and inspection methodologies.
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods, fabrication processes, heat treating, welding, and machine operation.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and SPC concepts.
- Proficient in geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
- Proven professional qualities including strong initiative, integrity, and the desire / ability to work in a team environment.
