We are not simply satisfied with what is working now, instead we challenge ourselves and continue to lead the way.The Staff Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for coordinating between Design engineers, Contract manufacturers, and vendors to ensure designs are robustly created and documented for optimal cost, reliability, and manufacturability in a rapidly scaling hardware business. A working knowledge of many different manufacturing processes and techniques and how to optimize designs for them is necessary. Familiarity with PCBA design and manufacturing as well as electrical components is optimal to excel in this position.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Support internal engineering and manufacturing teams as a technical expert in how our products are manufactured and the capabilities of our manufacturing partners.Bring knowledge of part, tool, and process design for many different types of manufacturing such as die casting, injection molding, stamping, spot welding, metal coating, and machining.Hold the line with vendors around functional and quality issues that arise during production or launch; drive technical, data-based plans for how issues can be resolved.Drive DFx (design for x, x = manufacturing, process, test, automated assembly, etc) with internal engineering teams, based on expertise and direct feedback from possible vendors for designs.Work with contract manufacturing engineers to address pinch points in high volume manufacturing lines and inform design-for-assembly priorities with internal sustaining engineering teamsAct as a technical lead in solving manufacturing problems with current production, as well as new product introduction.Participate in the Engineering Change Management process.Contribute to creation of innovative ideas to improve business results by optimizing product designs, processes and supply chains.Inform with product test development and deployment based on capacity, throughput, takt time, yields, and targets for optimization of direct labor inputsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other related Engineering degree.7+ years related experience in the Engineering function within a similar working environment.3-5 years of experience in product manufacturing, tool design, PCBA manufacturing, product design or equivalent experience.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Proficiency in PCBA Design software such as Alitum;Experience with Solidworks or other 3D modeling software;Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills;Experience collaborating cross-functionally ton technical projects;Demonstrated skills in problem solving and conflict resolution;Proven track record of successfully managing shifting deadlines and priorities in a fast paced environment.Product Lifecycle Management software experience.Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds.
