Job Overview:

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing team in Harwood Heights, IL. This role is ideal for hands-on professionals with extensive CNC machining expertise who enjoy working directly on the shop floor to optimize processes and solve complex issues. As part of our engineering team, you will work closely with machinists, programmers, and setup personnel to enhance operations and ensure high-quality production.

Key Responsibilities:

Shop Floor Involvement (70%)

  • Work directly with CNC machinists and operators to troubleshoot and resolve issues with machines or part production.
  • Ensure CNC machines, primarily lathes and mill-turn machines, are running efficiently and producing quality components.
  • Lead the initial setup and process optimization for new part runs.
  • Design and evaluate custom fixtures to improve production efficiency.

Engineering and Process Improvement (30%)

  • Develop and document standardized manufacturing procedures.
  • Review and create CAM programs as needed, ensuring optimal performance and accuracy.
  • Implement process improvements to reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and maintain quality standards.
  • Manage multiple projects, including quoting parts and overseeing continuous improvement initiatives.

Collaboration and Secondary Processes

  • Work with cross-functional teams to improve the entire manufacturing process from start to finish.
  • Engage with secondary processes such as deburring, plating, heat treating, and other metal finishing techniques.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 5-10+ years of CNC machining experience, including setup and troubleshooting.
    • Candidates with a bachelor's degree in engineering: 5+ years.
    • Candidates without a degree: 10+ years.
  • Expertise in CNC lathes, with additional experience in mills being highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T and experience working in highly precise manufacturing industries.
  • Proven ability to create parts from scratch and troubleshoot first-run parts.

Preferred:

  • Experience programming in CAM software (Esprit, Mastercam, or equivalent).
  • Understanding of secondary processing techniques, such as heat treating, anodizing, or painting.
  • Familiarity with CAD and ERP systems.
  • Background in the aerospace industry or other precision machining environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement process improvements.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary of $90,000 - $105,000 annually.
  • Quarterly bonus of 3.5%, based on company income performance.
