Summary

Responsible for designing an optimal process for fabrication of Swiss/Medical parts per customer purchase order requirements.The processes include both primary and secondary operations.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Responsible for new product development, including but not limited to:
    • Creation of Swiss CNC programs for new product
    • Creation of manufacturing process for new product
    • Creation of operation prints as required
    • Coordinate with quality on inspection methods
    • Participate in pre-production process to ensure all items are kitted and available at setup time
  • Create and maintain setup sheets
  • Create jobs and process documentation as required
  • Partner with Management and Production on floor support
  • Assist with quoting part rates
  • Lead continuous improvement including, but not limited to:
    • Identify, lead, and Coordinate "Kaizen" events
    • Identify and lead "quick hit" improvements
  • Research, procure, and develop new technology including, but not limited to:
    • Tooling
    • Work holding
    • Equipment
  • Participate in quality activities including, but not limited to:
    • NCMR review
    • Root cause analysis
    • Material review board
  • Mentor other engineers and machinists to improve their manufacturing and engineering skill sets

Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in machining with a focus on CNC Swiss
  • Contract manufacturing experience
  • A minimum of 3 years CAM programming experience (Part Maker a plus)
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in an engineering related function
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident, due to contractual requirements

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
  • CAM programming in GIBBS and/or Part Maker
  • Strong Analytical skills and the ability to express concepts effectively, both written and verbally
  • Strong communication & customer-service skills
  • Knowledge of tooling, speeds and feeds and work methods is critical
  • Ability to be open minded and work well with others and in a team environment
  • Ability to setup and operate machine tools
  • Ability to program machine tools
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and utilize GD&T proficiently
  • Ability to work independently with minimal training or supervision
  • Strong math skills
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with MS office (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • 3D CAD skills
