This is why we are committed to equal rights and treatment worldwide and never lose sight of the aspects ecology and sustainability when manufacturing our products.Position Title: Manufacturing and Quality EngineerReports To: Director of OperationsLocation: Richmond, VA (Hybrid) or Remote (non-local)The Manufacturing and Quality Engineer (MQE) reports to the Director of Operations and researches, designs, develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and safety/quality standards; develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing and quality methods using knowledge of product design, tooling and production equipment capabilities, fabrication processes, and assembly methods; uses concepts of Operational Excellence and Lean Six Sigma to continuously improve product and process quality. Qualifications:B.S. or M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or closely related field, with 2-5+ years of industrial experienceExperience with manual and CNC machining and mechanical assemblyFamiliarity with 3D CAD design software (Inventor, SolidWorks, etc.)1+ years of experience leading Lean Kaizen events preferredLean Manufacturing or Lean Six Sigma experience (Black Belt certification is preferred)Experience with pump, piping, and pressure vessels design to international standards or the ability to read and understand related standards is preferredAbility to read and interpret P&IDs including component identification and function (valves, instrumentation, etc.) is preferredExperience in an ISO 9001 certified manufacturing environment is preferredExperience working in a diverse, global company preferredAnalyze, develop and implement process improvements which continuously improve EHS, product and service quality, on-time delivery, operating expenses and cycle timesDevelop, evaluate, improve, and document manufacturing processesDevelop and implement process control techniques and procedures such as SPCEstimate staffing requirements, production times, and relative costs to provide data for operational decisionsWork closely with manufacturing department to develop, coordinate, and implement technical training for shop employeesDesign and develop manufacturing processes for enhancements, product changes, and new products, and related fixtures and tooling that are consistent with zero defects and low costsCreate tool drawings and design concepts and maintain accurate documentationProvide engineering support in production department to troubleshoot and resolve technical and throughput issuesSupport quality assurance and testing processes and equipment including data acquisition, calibration, process measurements, and fixturing.Coordinate work with technicians, and outside vendors.Responsibilities:Participate in and lead Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma projects to develop and drive the continuous improvement of the Quality Management System, quality standards, metrics, operations and operational excellence KPIsResearch, specify solutions, and help implement capital expenditure projects, machine tool purchases, facility layouts, and support key projectsAct as a liaison between product engineering and manufacturing operations teams on projects related to quality, EHS, cost reduction, and process improvementWork with limited guidance on complex engineering activities including designing fixtures for mechanical and electromechanical products, cost saving analysis, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actionsCreate and update manufacturing bills of material, manufacturing routers, method sheets, quality controls, and product drawingsPerform product inspectionsStrong passion and experience with Lean and or Six Sigma methodologies including one piece flow, TPM, RCA, standard work and FMEAFamiliarity with ISO 9001 quality systems and quality system managementRelentless focus on customer service, quality, innovation, and operational excellenceFamiliarity with BOM's and manufacturing processesFamiliarity with heavy casting, machining, fabrication, and industrial equipment assembly preferredComputer-aided-drafting using AutoCAD, Inventor preferredHands on and highly motivated to improve processesComfortable troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment as requiredCommunicate with professionalism in an international company settingAbility to grasp modern technology quicklyAbility to prioritize multiple projects based on criticality to safety or financial valueEnthusiastic, cooperative, and positive behaviorSupport company policies and procedures, goals and objectivesKnowledge of Microsoft Office products, email, and ERP systemsStrong mathematics, analytical, problem solving, and computer skillsStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong planning, time management and organizational skillsAble to succeed in a collaborative environment while establishing and executing multiple projects, support requests, and continuous improvement initiativesAbility to focus on long term goals and to identify and produce deliverables aligned with business objectivesWillingness to travel (~10%) throughout the US and internationallyWork Environment: This position occasionally requires work near moving mechanical parts and/or exposure to fumes or airborne particles. Typical noise levels for this job are moderate. Machine shop and equipment assembly shops are fully air conditioned.
