Overall Purpose:

The Quality Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality of raw materials, purchased components, and production parts throughout the production process. Serving as a representative of the quality department to both internal and external customers, the Quality Technician actively participates in continuous improvement efforts for the quality system. This position is essential for maintaining safety and quality standards, proper documentation, and the maintenance of equipment and gauges to support Masterbilt’s business goals and objectives.


Essential Job Functions & Expected Outcomes:

  • Quality Assurance:
    • Inspect incoming materials and components.
    • Test and inspect parts during and after production to determine product acceptance.
    • Use calipers, micrometers, and manual and digital gauges to ensure conformance with print specifications and established quality standards.
    • Coordinate external calibrations and perform internal calibrations on simple gauges.
    • Interpret part blueprints, material specifications, engineering plans, and geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Operational Maintenance:
    • Follow existing policies and procedures, reporting any changes or improvements to Leadership.
    • Analyze data and review part history to evaluate the reliability of source information.
    • Resolve testing/inspection problems by checking measuring equipment and communicating issues as appropriate.
    • Verify calibration and perform preventive maintenance on measuring equipment, troubleshooting malfunctions, and coordinating repairs as needed.
  • Safety and Professional Development:
    • Adhere to all safety procedures and regulations.
    • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
Requirements:

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in manufacturing and metrology experience.
  • Skills:
    • Strong attention to detail and fundamental knowledge of CNC machining/manufacturing principles.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
    • Ability to work independently and follow directions closely.
  • Certifications: Not applicable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ISO 9001 requirements; familiarity with AS9100 and ISO 13485 is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • This position may involve standing, walking, bending, reaching, and use of hands and fingers.
  • Ability to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.

Environmental Conditions & Travel:

  • Regular exposure to an office and manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Occasional requirement to wear suitable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, while in manufacturing departments.

Other Information:

  • Work Hours: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
  • Product Mix: Includes both aerospace and medical components.
