Cashier Job Description Required : High School diploma or GED certificate with one (1) year of experience related to the standard duties as outlined. Equivalency:  Completion of a post-secondary degree or certificate may substitute for years of experience. Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience as approved by the Human Resources Department. More information on SENMC can be obtained from its website at https://senmc.edu .   Purpose and Scope: The Cashier will report to the Business Office Manager and provide support and customer service, including cashiering and student assistance; which includes completing cash; check; credit card; and other electronic payment transactions with maintaining daily transaction record that will balance to system at end of day. May assist in provide accounting support to the Business Office. Researches and resolves invalid credit card transactions. Assist in reconciliating subsidiary accounts with general accounts. Provides friendly, helpful customer service to students and customers at the cashier window. Perform routine cashier audits. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties below are representative of the duties of the classification and are not intended to cover all the duties performed by the incumbent(s) of any particular position. Receives and receipts a variety of payments and other cash and cash-related transactions; verifies and posts to appropriate accounts; issues receipts. Prepares cash receipts for bank deposit. Prepares daily cash reports and balances the cash drawer; reconciles cash, check, and credit card receipts daily, and investigates and resolves any out-of-balance problems. Projects currency and coin requirements and reorders, as necessary. Assist in answering questions and resolves problems as they related to the position. May answer telephones, set up accounts, post invoices, prepare routine billings, and file cashiering documents. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of cash management principles and/or procedures. Knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications. Account balancing and cash handling skills. Ability to calculate numbers, correct entries, and post to records. Ability to analyze and solve problems.
