HealthWays, Inc in Weirton, WV is looking for a full-time Intake Worker in our Emergency Day Department. The Intake Worker will report to the Mental Health Director. This position is also responsible for a case load as well as providing the administrative and clinical supervision of behavioral management specialists (QMRP’s). Master’s degree in human services, counseling, mental health or social work and experience providing clinical mental health services is preferred. Knowledge and experience of DSM V is also required. Experience with assessments and behavior management techniques is required. Good organizational skills and reliable transportation. Must have a valid driver license and auto insurance. Good organizational skills and reliable transportation is required. Some duties of the position include:
1. Responsible for accurately recording intake (telephone or walk in) and emergency service referrals providing an appropriate triage using knowledge of DSM V diagnostic classifications.
2. Responsible for matching intakes to the most appropriate provider and payor source.
3. Responsible for maintaining a waiting list, when appropriate, and assuring the intakes are scheduled from the waiting list in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
4. Responsible for opening cases when needed with the understanding that they will be transferred to appropriate staff for therapy.
5. Responsible for coordination clients benefits with payer sources and admissions staff.
6. Responsible to maintain timely and accurate consumer records including documentation of services provided as directed by Healthways policies a procedure and by governmental regulations.
7. Responsible for providing emergency and crisis intervention services and related documentation.
8. Responsible for intake administrative case work and case assignment in conjunction with the supervisor.
9. Responsible to perform ongoing case management services for person who have been determined to be at risk of psychiatric hospitalization and to work effectively to reduce the frequency and duration of psychiatric hospitalizations for this population.
10. Responsible to provide mental hygiene services including arranging for a hearing location, exploring the availability of appropriate in-patient placements prior to all hearing, securing and inpatient for person found to be danger to self or others and in all cases to seek least restrictive alternatives for persons on the mental hygiene process.
