Senior Loan Review Specialist JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Loan Review Specialist is responsible for reviewing closed loan documents for new, renewed and amended commercial and real estate transactions. Ensures the required documentation has been obtained and properly executed and that all collateral is properly perfected. Determines if the loan was prepared in accordance with the terms and conditions approved by underwriting, the senior lender, or loan committee.
Senior Loan Review Specialist ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (RESPONSIBILITIES):
• Provides guidance and instruction to lending staff on post-closing documentation required for loan review and processing
• Identifies any discrepancies and/or deficiencies in the closing documents and addresses concerns/questions to develop solutions while working with lending staff.
• Reviews and validates all documentation related to the loan for accuracy, completeness and compliance with lending laws and regulations and proper perfection of collateral.
• Reviews and processes early disclosures, renewal/modification documents and payment extension documents, in addition to new loan documents.
• Reviews all documents for adherence to all approved terms and conditions and all monitoring requirements and loan covenants.
• Boards loans to the core processing system, ensuring accurate field completion for terms of loans, and assigning loan codes in accordance with loan classification and portfolio monitoring and reporting requirements.
• Performs a variety of imaging duties, such as verifying the quality of scanned documents; correcting, indexing, cross referencing and deleting documents; resolving rejected and suspended batches and records security documents (i.e., lien entries, UCCs, mortgages, etc.)
• Creates appropriate exceptions for omitted documents and those with errors. Creates recurring exception schedules for applicable documents.
• Creates ticklers and/or recurring exceptions for loan covenants or special loan terms.
• Processes participation transactions and settles with participating banks. Performs confirmation audits for participations and maintenance on commercial and real estate loans.
• Monitors escrow function, including analyzing the annual statements on monthly basis, paying invoices bi-monthly and reconciling all escrow activity.
• Acts as E-Oscar Queue liaison for credit discrepancies as well as balances other liabilities general ledger and disburses unused funds.
• Exercises awareness with regard to possible suspicious activity, money laundering or fraudulent behavior and reports any such incidents to the BSA department. Performs all job functions in compliance with all company policies and federal, state, and local laws and regulations as applicable to the position, including, but not limited to BSA/AML, OFAC and GLBA/privacy rules.
• Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.
Senior Loan Review Specialist REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
• Advanced knowledge of image system document sets and document parameters for recurring documents.
• Advanced knowledge of commercial loan policy and residential real estate loan policy.
• Advanced knowledge of legal and lending compliance documentation requirements, including requirements for loans to individuals and entities and loans secured by residential real estate.
• Advanced knowledge of lending terminology, legal documents and loan covenants and monitoring practices.
• Advanced knowledge of the Uniform Commercial Code, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, Truth-in-Lending Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act and RESPA.
• Advanced knowledge of various city, county, and state filing requirements.
• Excellent analytical and decision-making skills to research and resolve basic and complicated documentation issues and offer alternate solutions.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Communicates effectively to resolve errors and/or discrepancies on executed documents, responding in a professional and timely manner while maintaining effectiveness.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, & Outlook.
• Ability to maintain composure under pressure or adverse circumstances, using effective strategies for managing personal stress.
• Ability to maintain personal and work direction when faced with ambiguity.

Equivalent Education/Experience
• High school diploma required.
• 2-4 years of similar or related experience in a lending operations department is required.
• Extensive experience with FIS Horizon, FLO, and Imaging Center.
• Extensive experience with shared national credits and/or syndicated credits and SBA loans.
