Finance Manager
Our client, a technology-focused investment firm specializing in emerging industries, is seeking a Finance Manager. This position offers exposure to cutting-edge technologies and the opportunity to work closely with experienced leadership on tax compliance, fund reporting, audits, and operational processes. The role also involves supporting strategic finance-related initiatives and contributing to the development of AI technologies to optimize operations. This is a hybrid position, requiring candidates to be based in San Francisco with 1-2 in-office days per week. Responsibilities Tax Compliance :
Oversee the entire tax compliance lifecycle for funds, GPs, and the management company. Review tax documents prepared by advisors, including tax returns, K-1s, and foreign filings. Calculate and facilitate payments for estimated taxes. Conduct tax research and collaborate with advisors on strategic tax planning. Act as the primary contact for tax advisors and validate their guidance through independent research. Respond to investor tax-related inquiries and lead ad-hoc tax research projects.
Finance Operations :
Review financial reports prepared by fund administrators and produce quarterly NAV reports. Support the preparation and review of annual financial statements with auditors. Monitor fund performance and investments, including valuation updates. Participate in firm operations, such as accounts payable management, capital calls, and distributions. Address finance-related inquiries from investors and support strategic projects.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in accounting, tax, or a related field. 6+ years of asset management tax experience, with at least 4 years in VC/PE tax. CPA or equivalent credential required. Experience with tax research and planning is essential. Flexible, collaborative, and proactive with a self-starter mindset; able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Excellent proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets. Passion for technology, crypto, and/or AI is a big plus.
