Henderson Engineers is seeking an Operational Technology Consulting Director to join our team. The Operational Technology (OT) Consulting Director leads the operational technology team to provide detailed and innovative solutions regarding operational technologies in the built environment. They provide leadership in the areas of digital twins, facility related control systems, cybersecurity, cyber-physical systems, network design, solutions architecture, and the development of operational technology strategies that meet an owner's business and operational needs. The Operational Technology Consulting Director provides strategic direction to the company, influencing organizational goals, investment decisions, and driving innovation in this domain. They are responsible for overseeing the identification and analysis of client challenges, translating those client objectives internally with the various disciplines, and ensuring that operational technology solutions are scalable, secure, and align with organizational objectives. They collaborate with cross-functional teams, clients, and stakeholders to enhance building performance and support business growth. Minimum Qualifications for the Role are:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related field is required. Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in operational technology, solutions architecture, cybersecurity, or related fields required, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role with a proven track record of technical excellence and strategic influence. Relevant experience in providing consultancy services to building owners and operators is required. Advanced knowledge of operational technology principles, techniques, and technologies. Proficiency in network design, data architecture, and solutions architecture. Experience with integrated building management systems (IBMS), building automation systems (BAS), SCADA systems, or similar technologies. Strong understanding of cybersecurity practices within operational technology environments. Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., NIST, IEC 62443, ISO 27001, WELL, BREEAM, SPIRE, NEC, IBC, BICSI, EIA/TIA). Proficiency with relevant software tools, including Revit, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent leadership and strategic planning skills. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with excellent storytelling and presentation capabilities. Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines. Highly collaborative with the ability to function in a team environment as well as work independently. High technical aptitude with the ability to learn, understand, and utilize various systems and processes. Adaptable to changing work environments, priorities, and organizational needs. Self-starter, proactive, and willing to help others as needed. Interest in evolving trends in technology, digital transformation, sustainability, and the built environment. Ability to exercise sound judgment in determining priorities and making strategic decisions. Strong organizational and project management skills to handle multiple concurrent assignments in a timely manner. Lead, mentor, and manage the Operational Technology team, offering guidance and opportunities for professional development. Define and implement strategies for operational technology solutions that align with business objectives and industry best practices. Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and standards related to operational technologies, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and corporate guidelines. Influence and drive innovation in operational technology by staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies. Evaluate and recommend new technologies and methodologies to enhance the company's service offerings and competitive edge. Develop long-term plans for the adoption and integration of advanced operational technologies within the company's projects and services. Represent the company in industry forums and thought leadership activities to promote its expertise in operational technology. Operational Technology Solutions
Oversee the identification and quantification of problems experienced by building operators and owners. Guide the team in gathering stakeholder needs and synthesizing them into clear, actionable visions. Coordinate facility related control systems strategies with building owners, owner representatives, design disciplines (Sustainability, MEP, Fire & Life Safety, Lighting, IT, Telecom, Security, AV etc.) General Contractor teams and Commissioning agent. Promote, educate, and consult on the integration of intelligent building systems to enhance overall building performance and client value. Lead the development and implementation of cybersecurity strategies for operational technology environments. Ensure the protection of critical assets within both new projects and existing facilities. Oversee and direct the design and implementation of secure & scalable network architectures, cyber-physical systems, and solutions architecture. Establish and enforce security policies, procedures, and standards specific to operational technologies. Evaluate, validate, and select appropriate vendor platforms and tools that meet solution needs. Client Relations & Business Development
Leverage opportunities and relationships internally across Henderson Companies and externally across the industry to develop business growth. Lead the development, establishment, and maintenance of relationships with strategic partners and customers in support of and to expand business opportunities. Lead and provide input on client engagement strategies, project pursuits and project execution. Participate in client, company and/or industry events to build and maintain professional relationships. Work in close collaboration with HEI sectors and HBS teams to develop, define and execute company-wide strategies. Earn the trust of senior leaders at client organizations and partner with them to create strategic solutions at the intersection of business, sustainability, operational technology, safety & resilience, and facility operations. Build relationships with clients to raise Henderson Companies' profile as a long-term trusted advisor and partner. Develop and strengthen the Strategic Consulting business and role as a thought leader by creating content and taking part in professional forums, both internal and external. Communicate effectively with clients to develop and coordinate operational technology requirements and scope of work. Assist in resolving conflicts involving clients, architects, contractors, and facility managers related to operational technology matters. Align technical execution to streamline client experience and maximize client satisfaction. Identify opportunities to leverage technical strengths in pursuit of new work to ensure a competitive market position. Contribute to strategic decisions involving technical expertise and development needs in response to current and future industry demands.
