The SQL Server DBA must be able to meet the key criteria below: Location: Initially remote support with hybrid support in Suitland, MD after pandemic Years’ Experience: 4 years Education: Bachelors degree in IT related field Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance Work Authorization: Must be a US citizen Job Status: Full-Time Key Skills: SQL Server 2008/2012/2014/2016 experience required Experience with AlwaysOn Failover Cluster Instances (FCI) and Enterprise Level SQL Server Farms Experience with Windows Clustering Experience supporting SharePoint a bonus MS certification a bonus (ie. MCSA, MCSE, MCP, etc.) Experience migrating systems to MS Azure a plus Responsibilities Be able to work with clients, peers and management in a highly visible, mission critical environment End-to-end knowledge of MS SQL server database technologies including MS SQL Clusters and AlwaysOn Failover Cluster Instances (FCI) Experience with deploying and maintaining Enterprise Level SQL Server Farms and AlwaysOn Failover Cluster Instances (FCI) Evaluate, implement and maintain Microsoft technology, security updates, hot fixes, upgrades and version releases to ensure architecture stability Configure and manage Microsoft's Windows Server 2008/2012, Windows Clustering on a spanned VLAN, and SQL Server 2008/2012/2014/2016, demonstrating how these technologies may be leveraged to impact the architecture's overall design, security, availability and stability Solution development and integration of value-add applications to meet new requirements. Provide troubleshooting of database instances and OS level support in a consolidated SQL Server environment leveraging a wide-array of configurations, including local and multi-site failover clustering Demonstrate ability to analyze resource bottlenecks and provide suggestions to team, management, and internal customers on how to alleviate pressure and plan for capacity Provide recommendations and strategies to application owners on how to improve performance and scalability of their database components Install, upgrade and administer SQL Server database engine, Integration Services (SSIS), Reporting Services (SSRS), and Analysis Services (SSAS) Provide architectural guidance on strategies to improve operations and monitoring of current and future implementations. Ability to implement physical designs from logical designs Prepare technical documentation Designs, builds, and maintains structure (e.g. relational) and unstructured databases within a multiple tier environment Performs data access analysis design, and archive/recovery design and implementation. Develops strategies for data acquisitions, archive recovery, and implementation of a database. Translates business requirements and database administration operational requirements into long-term architecture solutions. Reviews and develops object and data models and the metadata repository to structure the data for better data management and performance. Performs all activities related to the administration of computerized databases. Conducts quality control and auditing of databases in a multiple tier environment to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data. Designs, implements, and maintains complex databases with respect to JCL, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods. Applies knowledge and experience with database technologies, development methodologies, and front‐end (e.g. COGNOS) and back‐end programming languages (e.g. SQL). Performs database programming and supports systems design. Includes maintenance of database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures, file design and storage, and integration of systems through database design. Qualifications Experience in Database Administration, System Analysis and Administration, Design, Development & Support of MS SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016 in Production, Development & Replication Environments Experience in installation, configuration, and maintenance of MS SQL Server 2012/2008 Experience as a MS SQL Server Developer/Administrator with extensive experience in SSIS/SSRS Proficient experience in upgrading and migrating from SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2012/2014/2016 Candidate must currently be working as a Senior SQL DBA supporting an environment with 50 to 100 combination of virtual and physical SQL servers. Extensive experience in maintaining High Availability using AlwaysOn/FCI, Database Mirroring, and Log Shipping capabilities of MS SQL Server 2012 to provide robust database solutions Experience with ETL Tools such as SQL Server Integration Services package development (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services report development (SSRS), and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) Experience implementing and managing SQL Server high-availability technologies (replication, mirroring, failover clusters, etc.) Experience with Database Backup, Recovery and Disaster Recovery procedures Extensive experience with SQL Server and T-SQL in constructing triggers, tables, user functions, views, indexes, user profiles, relational database models and data integrity. Extensive experience in Windows Server 2008/2012 Experience implementing and managing Windows clustering and AlwaysOn Failover Cluster Instances (FCI) Expert in implementing database mirroring and log shipping Experience in performance tuning, query optimization, client/server connectivity, and database consistency checks using DBCC utilities Experience implementing different types of Replication Models like Snapshot, Merge and Transactional.
