Your day at NTT DATA POSITION SUMMARY: BASIC FUNCTION The Data Center Technician L3 will possess an expert level of knowledge and will be responsible for the operational integrity and regulatory compliance of the data center electrical, mechanical, and fire life safety systems. This position will also be responsible for the processes that maximize customer uptime in the most cost-effective way and ensure that: data center problems are promptly identified and repaired quickly, that contractors deliver quality services, and that internal customer service level agreements are met. A Data Center Technician L3 develops creative approaches to keep operational costs to a minimum, while improving efficiency, and implementing new strategies. What you'll be doing ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Mechanical responsibilities will include operation, maintenance and repair of chilled water systems and components, HVAC systems such as roof top units, CRAC/CRAH units, and humidification systems. Electrical responsibilities will include operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical/critical power distribution from the Utility/Generator main switchgear through the UPS systems out to the customer load. Fire Life Safety responsibilities will include operation, maintenance, and repair of fire suppression systems, including wet sprinkler systems and pre-action sprinkler systems as well as their associated detection devices. Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems, areas include: Electrical, Mechanical and Building Monitoring and Control Systems. Tracking and trending MEP system and equipment operational characteristics Provide feedback to DCOPs Technical Operations on the effectiveness of existing standards and processes Works with contractors and consultants for all National Projects, consultants and clients fit-outs, system expansions, corrections, and upgrades Work with the CF Ops Supervisor to follow and track annual budgets Work with the CF Ops Supervisor to relay the status of the planned maintenance program status Ensure data center operates at maximum operational efficiency, including analyzing existing operating conditions, recommending new technologies, and improving overall efficiency and cost reduction. Works with the CF Ops team to ensure the data center operates at maximum operational efficiency Serve in a technical writing capacity regarding the creation, review, and approval of procedures for operations, preventative or corrective maintenance activities and emergency operating procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Regular, predictable attendance is essential for satisfactory performance. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Firm and proven understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment, including, but not limited to the following: electrical distribution and layout, transformers, PLC's, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, STS, ATS, PDU/RPP's, Chilled Water Systems, CRAC/CRAH's, Pre-Action Sprinkler Systems and associate Fire/Smoke Detections systems. Advanced level knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 72, NFPA 25, and compliance issues as well as building codes, regarding fire life safety requirements and guidance. Advanced level knowledge in industrial safety best practices (i.e. lockout/tag out, arc flash protection, OSHA, and state regulations) Highly experienced with data trending / tracking and analysis and ability to rapidly learn and use PC based, integrated critical monitoring systems Proficient with computers to include the utilization of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook. Able to work in a team environment. Manages stress and/or fast pace effectively. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated advanced level of experience installing, maintaining, and/or troubleshooting large commercial and industrial systems including: Chilled Water Systems Large Centrifugal Chillers Cooling Towers Heat Exchangers Indirect Air Exchange Heat Wheel Rooftop units Water Treatment Systems VFD's and Pumps HVAC equipment CRAC/CRAH's Humidification Systems BMS and PLC Controls Emergency Standby Diesel Generator Systems Fuel/Oil systems, 480/277 and 208/120 electrical generation and distribution Static UPS Systems Dual Interlocked Fire Suppression Pre-Action Systems Must be comfortable working in a high stress, fast paced environment with shifting priorities. Must be able to work on an 8- or 12-hour shift which may require nights, holidays, and some weekends. GlobalDataCentersCareers EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree or equivalent education and/or work experience normally obtained with 6-8 years' related experience which includes: A minimum of 5 years in a mechanical/electrical position within critical facilities (preference given to data center, hospital, semi-conductor, or power plant experience). Two to 3 years as a data center technician L2 in a critical facility environment. CPR/First Aid and NFPA70E Certification during employment. OSHA-10 General Industry Course completion Forklift Certified (optional). High School Diploma or GED required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Primarily walking, standing, and bending with some sitting. Ability to communicate effectively with verbal, visual and listening skills Close visual work on a computer terminal. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required equipment as well as to operate computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments. Able to lift heavy equipment, up to 50 pounds. Ability to climb ladders and work on raised platform. WORK CONDITIONS Typical data center work environment with varying temperatures and loud noises. Extensive daily usage of a computer or workstation. Must work on-site; no telecommuting permitted. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Must wear leather close-toed shoes with a solid rubber sole. Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver's license. This position requires work to be done onsite at a data center facility and may require use of a personal mobile device. A monthly stipend will be provided to cover expenses incurred for using a personal device, if applicable. Hourly base salary for this position is $40.00 - $60.00 and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance to local state and federal 'Wage and Hour' requirements. All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
