Job Summary The MuleSoft Systems Integration Engineer leads the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and support of real-time integration and interfaces between the applications at UCSF Health, Benioff Children's Hospitals, and our affiliates' integrated systems that support patient care, medical faculty, clinical staff, administrative staff and departments, and information services. The MuleSoft Systems Integration Engineer will be a member of the Integration Services team, benefiting from in-depth expertise and knowledge sharing within the team. Functionally, this role will be part of the expansive, role-based Health AI team, focusing on the integration and support of AI solutions within our Epic electronic health record system and other AI technologies. The MuleSoft Systems Integration Engineer is an expert in data integration in healthcare. They possess advanced knowledge of interfaces, healthcare IT systems, and operational workflows. Key technical abilities include gathering information from users, defining work problems, and translating these requirements into integration solutions. In addition, the Systems Integration Engineer will provide support for existing interfaces and assist in providing innovative integrated solutions to UCSF Health, Benioff Children's Hospitals, and our partners. The MuleSoft Systems Integration Engineer functions as an integration solutions expert and assists departments in solving their integration needs. The successful candidate enjoys matching solutions with problems and is excited to share their expertise with the team and departments that seek their assistance. They follow IT policies and procedures and will assist in improving processes and documentation. The ideal candidate will focus on developing new systems integration using MuleSoft ESB and API Manager and has experience using multiple technologies to develop business-critical systems in a distributed architecture. Alongside their integration background and expertise, strong communication and positive collaboration are critical skills needed for this position. Additionally, experience or familiarity with integrating AI technologies within healthcare IT systems, particularly the Epic electronic health record, is highly desirable. The candidate should also have experience with or a strong interest in integrating AI solutions. This includes leveraging these AI technologies to enhance and optimize healthcare operations, improve patient outcomes, and drive innovation within UCSF Health's IT infrastructure The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $137,300 - $206,000 (Annual Rate). To learn more about the benefits of working at UCSF, including total compensation, please visit: https://ucnet.universityofcalifornia.edu/compensation-and-benefits/index.html Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related area and / or equivalent experience / training. 5 years of hands-on integration experience that can include experience with other tools /vendors such as JBoss Fuse, Dell Boomie, IBM WebSphere, Oracle Fusion, etc. Advanced knowledge of systems integration deploying complex systems integration solutions. Advanced skills associated with system integration design, modification, implementation and deployment in a complex environment. Demonstrated ability to understand functional needs of the campus / medical center and / or UC system and how systems can support those needs. Demonstrated ability to interface with senior level technical and non-technical management on a regular basis. Demonstrated ability to create software specifications. Experience with identification and use of code libraries and open-source forums. Demonstrated ability to identify software and hardware interdependences in a complex multi-platform environment. Demonstrated ability to develop solutions for complex business and systems / custom / ad-hoc solutions. Experience with complex multi-platform troubleshooting in a multi-platform environment. Preferred Qualifications 3 years of hands-on experience with MuleSoft Platform- ESB, CloudHub, and API Management 5 years of hands-on experience with Epic Bridges and Cloverleaf Interface Engine Epic or Healthcare API/FHIR experience HL7 v2 knowledge Epic Interconnect knowledge Epic Bridges Certification Agile/Scrum Certification Demonstrated ability to develop complex conversion and system implementation plans. Experience with planning for deployment and creation of feedback mechanisms. Experience developing and implementing complex project plans. Experience researching and evaluating new technology and solutions for complex environments. Ability to impart knowledge to senior level technical and non-technical audiences and to influence outcomes to meet objectives. Advanced knowledge and experience with monitoring tools, performance, and systems optimization, including intermediate knowledge of security for data, data transfers and systems. The Integration Services team builds new integrations from scratch, reuses existing integration solutions, enhance existing integrations, or provide consulting to help achieve integration needs. The Health AI team is part of the larger UCSF Health IT team and supports the development, implementation, and monitoring of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and other analytical tools, improving patient care, clinician experience, and health system operations.
