Job Title: Accountant
Job Overview:
Our healthcare client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to join their team. This role involves working extensively in Excel to manage financial data, reconcile accounts, and support the month-end close process. The ideal candidate will have strong reconciliation skills, experience with general ledger functions, and a solid understanding of accounting principles. This position requires a proactive, critical thinker who can contribute to both daily accounting operations and special financial projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Reconcile Accounts : Regularly reconcile bank accounts, general ledger (G/L) accounts, and supporting documents to ensure accuracy.
Month-End Close : Assist in the month-end closing process by collecting data, creating journal entries, and reconciling G/L account balances in preparation for financial reporting.
Prepaid Expenses and Deferred Revenue : Maintain accurate records of prepaid expenses and deferred revenue schedules.
Payroll Expense Tracking : Record and track the agency’s payroll expenses within the General Ledger.
Daily Cash Receipts and Deposits : Serve as a backup for recording daily cash receipts and deposits to the General Ledger.
Capital Expenses & Fixed Assets : Track and maintain records for the agency’s capital expenses and fixed assets.
General Ledger Support : Provide assistance with G/L functions and other special projects, including spreadsheet maintenance and creation to support management’s needs.
Must-Have Qualifications:
Experience with Journal Entries : Ability to create journal entries (JEs) in accordance with accounting practices.
Advanced Excel Skills : Strong experience with Excel, including proficiency in advanced functions such as VLOOKUPs and PivotTables.
Reconciliation Experience : Strong background in performing reconciliations for accounts, bank statements, and other financial data.
Understanding of Debits and Credits : Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals, including debits and credits.
Communication Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting, collaborating with team members, and interacting with management.
Critical Thinking : Ability to analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and suggest process improvements.
Education/Experience : A degree in accounting or finance is preferred, but not required if the candidate has strong, relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in healthcare accounting or a related field is a plus.
Familiarity with accounting software and systems is advantageous.
