Overview Creating the convergence of physical, digital, and virtual environments through advanced manufacturing technologies (Industry 4.0). Design systems to manufacture more effectively to meet consumer demands, while boosting productivity and efficiency. Plans, implements, tests, troubleshoots, and improves electronic automation processes or applications for various machinery and equipment using technologies or platforms such as human machine interfaces (HMIs), analytics, intelligence, and advanced manufacturing. Major Position Responsibilities Manages and oversees advanced systems used in the automation and optimization of industrial tasks (such as machine monitoring). Plans, develops, and implements advanced equipment to optimize systems applications (i.e., artificial intelligence or robotics). Analyzes manufacturing and development processes, identifying opportunities for automation, modifications, and improvements (i.e., additive manufacturing, paper-less factory, or utilization of cloud technology). Conducts research and analysis to determine the feasibility, costs, and performance benefits of advanced manufacturing technologies or enhancements (for example, augmented reality or robotics). Recommends, implements, and verifies strategic solutions for advanced manufacturing technology projects through solutions like machine learning or other potential avenues. Applies automated solutions to the production, development, or transfer of components, finished goods, or other materials. Maintains records, files, and other documentation related to technical aspects of projects. Provides training and consultation on automated processes and equipment. Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring within their function at one or more sites. Provides site-level factory support, partnering with the site leadership team to implement manufacturing technologies that support business needs. Performs capital equipment justification and process capital appropriations requests (CAR). Performs make-buy analysis and presents to management. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. Discipline/Major: Automation Engineering, Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Business Management, or other related Engineering Degree. Additional Certifications: Lean tool expert and/or Six Sigma Green Belt preferred. 10-12 years of relevant experience required; experience with Minitab, Power BI, Cyber Security, and cloud-based systems preferred. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to apply mechanical and electrical engineering theories, practices, and procedures to automate products and processes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Working knowledge of advanced manufacturing technologies. 25-50% travel likely. Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time. Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities. May need to stand for long periods of time. Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
