About the Role:
responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising the company's financial strategy. They will manage the company's financial accounts, payrolls, budget, cash receipts and financial assets in addition to handling company's transactions, debts, cash flow, and forecasting. The individual will perform the company's financial audits using proper accounting procedures to reach financial objectives. Responsibilities also include monitoring/analyzing financial accounting data, creating financial reports based on data analysis, and making recommendations to business stakeholders. There are many tasks to accomplish, most of which have strict, unmovable deadlines. Thus, the individual will have the ability to work under pressure successfully while not sacrificing the quality of the tasks performed.

About the Role:
- This person will be doing full-cycle accounting for their 25 retail locations in Southern California
- Very hands-on - roll up sleeves, get into the weeds
- Journal entries, recs, etc.
- 15K - 20K invoices per month
- Flux analysis
- Oversee AP/AR
- LA Team: 3 Sr Accountants, 1 Staff, 2 in AR, AP Manager, 8 AP Clerks

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Management
- Maintains and enforces a documented system of accepted accounting policies and procedures
- Manage outsourced functions
- Survey the operations of the accounting department including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives
- Oversee the accounting operations of subsidiary corporations, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures
- Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
- Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable
- Ensure that accounts receivables are collected promptly
- Process payroll in a timely manner
- Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
- Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
- Maintain the chart of accounts
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
- Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
- Issue timely and complete financial statements
- Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report
- Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
- Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
- Provide for a system of management cost reports
- Provide financial analyses as needed; for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
- Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
- Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Additional Controller Accountabilities
- MS Office Suite with intermediate level Excel experience preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing
- Solid customer service and collections skills
