Mission

Waséyabek Development Company, LLC (WDC) is a legal entity, created and wholly owned by the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP), a federally recognized Indian Tribe. WDC is the holding company of an investment portfolio consisting of commercial real estate, Federal operating companies, and commercial operating companies. Position Summary

Waséyabek Development Company, LLC is looking for a Junior Accountant to support our fast-growing Waséyabek Federal Group who would like to grow their career into greater responsibility. This is a remote position.


Essential Job Functions include, but not limited to, the following:

  • The position will report to and work closely with the Waséyabek Federal Group Controller
  • Will perform daily accounting tasks to include accounts payable, invoicing, and journal entries and assist with project setup in Deltek CostPoint
  • Monitor accounts payable email and correspond with vendors
  • Process weekly reporting related to accounts payable
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis to support decision-making
  • Manage the collection and tracking of outstanding invoices
  • Provide support during financial audits and tax preparation
  • Additional functions not specifically outlined in this position description as directed by the leader.
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Applicants must possess any education, training or experience necessary to perform all essential duties and responsibilities associated with the position. Education, training and experience indicative of an individual’s ability to perform all essential job duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • 3-5 years of government contract accounting experience
    • Preference will be given to those with experience working for other government contracting companies, particularly service-oriented businesses, but we will consider other relevant experience as well.
  • A basic understanding of FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulations) contract accounting
  • Familiarity with Deltek CostPoint and be able to learn other systems quickly
  • Experience preparing FFP, T&M and CPFF invoices
  • Advanced Excel Skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to effectively manage accounting processes and procedures.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Ability to pass an extensive background investigation, including but not limited to personal and professional financial history, nationwide criminal record search, credit check, and other relevant background information deemed necessary by WDC.
Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Prior experience with a Native American culture and Native American hiring preferences.

Some travel may be required, up to 10% of the time. The travel may be local or national and may be by car, rail, or air.
