Job Title: Manufacturing EngineerLocation: Harwood Heights, ILJob Summary:We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our hands-on, collaborative team. This role is ideal for professionals with extensive CNC machining experience who thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy solving complex problems, and have a passion for precision engineering. You will spend the majority of your time on the shop floor, working directly with machinists, operators, and programmers to troubleshoot issues, optimize processes, and ensure the seamless operation of our CNC machines.Key Responsibilities: Shop Floor Focus (70%): Troubleshoot and resolve CNC machine and part issues to ensure smooth operations. Collaborate with machinists, programmers, and setup personnel to address challenges. Support new part runs, including setup and process optimization. Design and review fixtures to improve part quality and production efficiency. Engineering & Documentation (30%): Develop and refine manufacturing processes, procedures, and standards. Create CAM programs (Esprit or similar) and review others' programming for accuracy. Document process improvements and maintain detailed records. Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives for process improvement and cost reduction. Oversee multiple projects, including quoting parts and designing solutions. Work with cross-functional teams to optimize the end-to-end manufacturing process. Secondary Processes: Collaborate on processes such as deburring, engraving, heat treating, plating, painting, anodizing, and NDT. Must-Have Qualifications: Experience: 5-10+ years of direct CNC machining experience, including setup and troubleshooting. With Degree: 5+ years required. Without Degree: 10+ years required. Proficiency in creating parts from scratch and running new pieces for the first time. Strong experience with CNC lathes (essential) and familiarity with CNC mills. Expertise in GD&T, with experience in precision machining environments.Preferred Qualifications: Programming CNC machines in CAM software (Esprit, Mastercam, or equivalent). Understanding of secondary processing techniques (deburring, plating, anodizing, etc.). Experience managing the full manufacturing process from start to finish. Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Familiarity with CAD and ERP software. Background in aerospace or other highly precise industries.
