Andaz Miami Beach is now recruiting a Painter to join the hotel's opening team. An art-deco building and architectural landmark is home to the newest luxury lifestyle hotel located in the heart of Mid-beach. Opening in late 2024, the property boasts 287 guestrooms including 34 breathtaking suites and the ONLY Ocean-view arrival experience in Miami Beach. The design features elements of texture, art, and pops of color that create a unique and captivating experience. Each suite is designed with floor-to-ceiling windows, most with deep-soaking tubs, and cozy reading nooks. Guests can also enjoy private outdoor terraces with stunning views of the Atlantic and the Miami skyline. Unmatched amenities include a full-service spa, a well-equipped fitness center, a destination dining experience by Jos Andrs, two pools, and a Beach Club catering to the who's who of Miami. Job Description:
The painter is responsible for the repair, maintenance, upkeep and replacement of the property's cosmetic materials (interior/exterior painting, patching of woodwork and furniture refinishing), in accordance with resort standards. Will also assist in other areas of Engineering as assigned.
Responsibilities & Duties Include:
•Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
•Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
•Receive daily work assignments from Chief Engineer/Supervisor and review priorities and special projects.
•Maintain time lines and work schedule in accordance with the preventive maintenance program.
•Check work orders and Night Report for any problems. Make rounds checking these problem areas; note any touch-up needs or/and safety concerns in the resort.
•Schedule work in accordance with preventive maintenance program in rooms, coordinating with the Executive Housekeeper and Front Office Manager.
•Maintain par stock levels of standard paint, brushes, wallpapers, stains, sign lettering and other supplies.
Work Environment:
Paint shop, interior and exterior of building. Working on scaffoldings and stepladders and in areas with heavy paint fumes.
Job involves working:
•Under variable temperature conditions (or extreme heat or cold).
•Under variable noise levels.
•Outdoors/indoors.
•Around fumes and/or odor hazards.
•Around dust and/or mite hazards.
•Around chemicals.
Maintain complete knowledge of:
•Appropriate paint and adhesive types for various surfaces.
•The latest techniques for mixing formulas for paints, acrylics, epoxies, concrete paints, stains, and varnishes.
•Ventilation of and storage of flammable and toxic materials.
•Mixture formulas for paints as required.
•Repair and maintain all painted surfaces and items, including preparation and installation of all types of latex, enamels, etc.
•Install and repair vinyl and wallpaper.
•Strip and refinish guest and resident room furniture.
•Maintain for the proper use, cleaning, maintenance and storage of all tools, (i.e. brushes, rollers, paint sprayers, trays, ladders, scaffolds, etc.) and supplies.
•Initiate cost estimates of labor and material required for specific projects.
Desirable:
•Certification or completion of seminars for specialized training.
Essential:
•Exert physical effort in regularly transporting 10 lbs, frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 lbs.
•Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas.
•Reach12 inches.
•Remain constantly active throughout work shift.

Skills and Qualifications:
•3 year(s) experience as a commercial painter.
•Working knowledge of different types of paints and their applications.
•Knowledge of the use and application of wall coverings (wall paper, vinyl coverings, etc.)
•Knowledge of stains and finishes.
•Knowledge of proper chemical handling and disposal.
•Fluency in job related English both verbal and non-verbal.
•Compute basic mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers in processing charges).
