JOB SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs plumbing activities in accordance with work specifications, codes and regulations. Inspects, installs, repairs and replaces pipes, fitting, and plumbing fixtures to maintain the heating, water, gas and drainage systems and performs other duties as assigned. Provides on-call and call back coverage as required.
MACHINES OR EQUIPMENT OPERATED: Acetylene torches, hacksaw, pipe benders, cutters, threaders, wrenches and other plumbers' tools.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Graduate of a trade or vocational school in plumbing.
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of experience in plumbing, steam fitting or related skilled crafts or trade or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. Knowledge of standard plumbing concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specifications; work from sketches and verbal instructions. Demonstrates ability to effectively utilize judgment to plan and accomplish work goals in a timely manner. Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a team environment and exhibit customer service skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Prolonged standing, walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, twisting, reaching, handling, and kneeling; color vision, hand/eye coordination and dexterity; exposure to hazards from use of electrical, electronic and mechanical equipment; light work - exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION: Current local Code Enforcement Journeymen Plumbers License with backflow certification or will receive license within six months.
