Job Summary/Basic Function
Orders, receives, inspects, delivers, inventories and acknowledges all incoming materials and deliveries. Participates in and oversees the cleaning of all areas of the Student Center while assigning cleaning and set up tasks to all part-time and full-time employees and student assistants. Employee will be responsible for opening or closing the building depending on work shift.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to read and understand and follow instructions.
Ability to work alone in an area with minimal supervision.
Ability to operate cleaning equipment (i.e. vacuums, burnishers, carpet extractors, etc.)
Ability to communicate effectively with others.
Ability to bend, stoop, stand, walk and lift up to 25 pounds on a daily basis.
Preferred Qualifications
High School diploma or GED preferred. 2 years of general experience in custodial work.

Description of Job Duties
Oversees the work of a crew of campus service workers by: Initiating daily work assignments; demonstrating proper cleaning procedures, methods, and techniques; ensuring that the proper equipment and materials are available; and inspecting completed work assignments to ensure adherence to proper quality, quantity, and safety standards; helping to train new employees; and other duties as assigned by supervisor. Sweeps, mops, disinfects, waxes, and polishes floors, hallways, stairs, entrances, elevators, related fixtures and furnishings. Vacuums, shampoos carpets, rugs, and upholstery. Cleans and disinfects shower rooms and restroom facilities and replenishes soap, paper, and related products. Dusts and polishes furniture, desks, table tops, file cabinets, bookcases, and related woodwork. Washes and cleans walls, ceilings, doors, windows, radiators, ventilators, and air conditioners. Empties and cleans waste receptacles. Transports trash and waste to disposal areas. Clean entrances, porches by sweeping, shoveling, and removing water, ice, snow, litter, and debris from sidewalks, steps, and entryways out 25' from building. Sets up and arranges furniture for special events. Mixes and dilutes commercial strength cleaning solutions. Calculates area to determine amounts of cleaning solutions required. Maintains custodial closets in a clean and orderly fashion. Maintains and stocks supplies for efficient and ready use. Performs light maintenance tasks on buildings and equipment for precautionary or preventative maintenance purposes. Notifies supervisor of equipment and facilities needing repair or replacement. Ordering and managing supplies (purchasing, organizing, billing, coordinating with all suppliers, etc.) May be required to remove hazardous materials following specific instructions and safety procedures, such as those used to abate a spill or clean-up of bodily fluids (blood borne pathogens). Student employee management activities (interviewing, hiring, evaluation, training, timecards, assigning tasks. etc.)
