The Automation & Equipment Engineer is in charge of designing, testing, and optimizing automated systems to help businesses improve processes, save costs, and achieve better outcomes. This engineer specializes in the design, maintenance, and optimization of equipment with a focus on ensuring the reliability and efficiency of these systems. Their expertise lies in understanding the intricacies of the equipment, troubleshooting issues, and implementing improvements.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain and repair existing equipment to ensure optimal performance
• Determining the automation capabilities of the factory’s processes or products
• Building automated systems for the site and correcting any errors when implementing a solution
• Writing reports that explain automation projects from start to finish
• Testing and monitoring automation systems
• Debugging, repairing, and troubleshooting various systems
• Upgrading or deactivating existing automation systems
• Training stakeholders on how to use and troubleshoot automation systems
• Writing Job Instructions for automation systems and manufacturing equipment
• Ensure equipment meets all safety standards and complies with regulations
• Determine root cause of equipment failures and implement corrective actions
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot equipment problems
• Create and maintain equipment performance metrics and track progress over time
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or minimum of 5 years of relevant experience)
• Demonstrated experience in equipment design and maintenance
• Demonstrated experience in implementing automated solutions in a manufacturing environment
• Experience with CAD software and ability to read technical drawings
• Knowledge of safety regulations related to equipment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Time management skills to meet the strict project deadlines
• Creativity to develop automation solutions

Knowles is committed to providing a competitive and fair total compensation package for all employees.
One element in our total compensation package is base pay. The starting salary for this role is targeted to be between $100,000 to $150,000.
Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to previous experience and skills acquired prior to joining Knowles, cost of living in the assigned work location, assigned schedule, and salaries of similarly situated peers at the company. It is to be expected that candidates will come to us with different sets of skills and experiences and therefore will be paid at different points in the stated range.
