The center's current scope of work includes behavioral health, child health & well-being, community health systems development, health & health care financing, health in all policies, health systems transformation, long-term services & support, population & global health, and rural health. The center conducts, analyzes, and disseminates qualitative and quantitative research to connect decision-makers with the objective research and guidance needed to make informed decisions about health policy and programs. The center works locally, nationally, and internationally with public and private partners to improve health and well-being.

The Center of Excellence for Children's Behavioral Health, within GHPC, was created in partnership with the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. The Center of Excellence employs a three-pronged focus on research, policy, and practice, and is engaged in providing: workforce development through technical assistance and training to build the capacity of the state's behavioral health workforce; research and evaluation to monitor and assess behavioral health services for providers and state agencies to measure program effectiveness; and consultative research and policy analysis services for local, state, and national partners focusing on financing structures and service delivery opportunities for improving the behavioral health System of Care.

About the position

The administrative specialist provides administrative support for the Center of Excellence for Children's Behavioral Health (COE), supporting team leads, senior research associates, research associates, communications and marketing staff, external consultants, and subcontractors. This position reports directly to the senior advisor and the director.

Here is what you will do

  • Performs standard administrative duties, including Zoom-related duties, supporting the assigned project leads.
  • Serves as an administrative and technology resource for staff and guests visiting.
  • Creates, prepares, and proofreads emails and other forms of communication, as requested.
  • Responsible for answering office phone, and departmental emails, providing information, and/or transferring or redirecting calls or emails to the appropriate staff.
  • Manages and coordinates processes related to equipment, supplies, and mail and shipping needs.
  • Develop and recommend procedures to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of internal administrative operations.
  • Direct meeting and conference logistics including securing event location, soliciting food and other vendor quotes as needed, and ensuring that meetings are adequately staffed
  • Manage the travel request process ensuring that all travel requests are processed in a timely manner
  • Manages departmental calendar and supports project leads as needed.
  • Manages COE events, including team building, volunteer efforts, and celebrations.
  • Assists with other ad hoc tasks or projects as needed.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES to make you shine

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage, prioritize, and coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Computer proficiency, including the ability to use Microsoft Office.
  • Event planning and coordination experience.
  • Supervisory, employee training, and development skills.
  • Project management experience.

The salary range for this position is $32,327-$48,421. The position is sponsor-funded and is contingent upon funding.
