Department Summary

The Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management is committed to creating innovative, transformative learning opportunities, activities and programs that prepare students to thrive personally and professionally as engaged members of society through the University of North Texas Dallas' strategic enrollment goals. The division is dedicated to recruiting, enrolling and retaining its student body with co-curricular engagement and development opportunities that appeal to an intergenerational population to enhance student learning beyond the classroom.

Position Overview

The Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs reports directly to the President. This position is a Cabinet level position. The VPEMSA works cooperatively and extensively with the other areas across the university. The VPEMSA will lead the development of goals and objectives for enrollment management and student experiences consistent with the university's overall planning. The VPEMSA will provide a strategic view of campus wide linkages for potential program enhancement and development as well as cost savings and improved resource utilization. The VPEMSA currently oversees the offices of Undergraduate Admissions, Student Financial Aid and Scholarships, Trailblazer Elite, Greater Texas Foundation and Student Affairs Division. This position is responsible for the development and assessment of cocurricular programs/services designed to advance student success including, counseling, student activities, residential living and learning, students rights, and responsibilities (student conduct), Title IX, student organizations, new student programs, veteran student services, career services and disability services. The VPEMSA serves as chief student advocate, updating the campus community on trends related to student rights and responsibilities. The VPEMSA will also participate in the development and dissemination of polices on student behavior and civility. This position is responsible for a comprehensive enrollment management plan and annual report to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. The VPEMSA will ensure the university follows all federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to Title IX, Drug Free Schools and Communities Act, and The Higher Education Act.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in higher education administration or related field and 10 years of experience in enrollment management and student affairs with at least five of those years in a leadership role.

The Preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Experience with collegiate student retention efforts. Experience collaborating with academic affairs professionals in enrollment management strategies. Experience recruiting and retaining students from diverse backgrounds. Outstanding supervisory skills. A terminal degree preferred (Ph.D., Ed.D., JD, or equivalent); Masters accepted. Thorough knowledge of Texas rules and regulations related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).Thorough knowledge of CAS Standards Obtain certification as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator upon employment. Experience with student service fee management. Experience with mentoring programs for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Evidence of a commitment to professional development for self and staff members is necessary. General working knowledge of legal and policy issues impacting the work of student affairs professionals including but not limited to ADA, Title IX, and constitutional issues. Experience with budget management.

Job Duties:

Works to enhance the continuous quality improvement of seamless integrated services for students, including community college and transfer students. Hires, trains, monitors, and conducts scheduled evaluations of the work performance of employees supervised. Promotes student satisfaction and outcomes. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Builds relationships and collaborates with faculty and campus units to ensure Student Affairs programs/services support student learning, the university's mission, and strategic plan. Coordinates with student development and academic units to create partnerships that result in improved student access and success. Coordinates with the technology staff to develop and maintain a student information system that encompasses the necessary infrastructure and data to support comprehensive enrollment management data analysis needs and student self-services. Maintains knowledge of policies/procedures governing student involvement and interprets and communicates policies to campus constituents. Coordinates with the Office of Institutional Research in the evaluation, analysis, and reporting of data related to enrollment management programs and initiatives. Ensures that monitoring systems are in place to track compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations, and that all staff have the training that they need to comply with relevant laws and regulations. Coordinates with the Division of University Relations, Communications and Marketing staff to facilitate market analysis, planning, and implementation of target market initiatives. Adheres to and fosters high standards of ethical conduct, compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, and appropriate financial oversight and controls. Observes safety, security, and confidentiality precautions appropriate to work performed Provides leadership/oversight to the Offices of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs to enhance institutional effectiveness, including the use of assessment results and linking results to planning. Works on special projects as requested by the president. Adheres to the Council for Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) for all areas under Student Affairs. Serves as chief student conduct officer for the campus. Develops training and coordinates the work of the student conduct board. Effectively manages by providing direct supervision, motivation, training, and support to the directors of the following offices: Undergraduate Admissions, Greater Texas Foundation, Trailblazer Elite, Student Financial Aid and Scholarships, and Student Affairs. Provides direction for Presidential Scholars, Trailblazer 360, student safety concerns, student engagement, and wellness and prevention education, in addition to other student programs. Oversees the Enrollment Management to develop a coordinated strategic plan to recruit, retain, and graduate a diverse student body that is congruent with the university's vision and mission, state goals associated with Closing the Gaps, and Accountability System targets. Leads, with Enrollment Management and Office of the Provost, the university management of Early Intervention Program results, a campaign that supports students who are at-risk academically or socially and helps to determine strategies and follow up for these students. Supports efforts to enable effective financial planning based on enrollment. Oversee the revision of existing, and development of new policies related to Student Affairs, including annual updates to the Student Handbook, ensuring that all policies are appropriate and consistent with all other published university policies. Represents the university on enrollment management related issues as directed and works with university officials to assure effectiveness of enrollment management programs and initiatives. Supports and advocates on behalf of UNT Dallas students. Along with the assistance from the Student Solutions department, serves as the primary point of contact for students with emergencies/critical situations, complaints, or issues, advising and providing referrals to resources as appropriate. Serves on various university, local, state and national committees. Leads, coordinates, and serves on a variety of university committees and task forces including Student Service Fee Advisory Committee, Security Clearance Committee, Campus Assessment, Response and Education (C.A.R.E.) Team, Campus Emergency and Response Team (CERT) and others as assigned by the President.
