SUMMARY
Arcticom a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Security Officer for the Center for Disease Control in Anchorage AK. Security Guard enforces regulations designed to prevent breaches of security; exercises judgment and uses discretion in dealing with whether first response should be to intervene directly (asking for assistance when deemed necessary and time allows), provide access and egress services to property, keep situation under surveillance, or to report situation so that it can be handled by appropriate authority. Duties require specialized training in methods and techniques of protecting security areas.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Essential Duties and Responsibilities are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed for this position and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provide facility visitor/employee access control. This includes the directing, controlling, vetting and processing of authorized personnel, government employees, contractors and visitors.
- Conduct inspection of visitors, employees, and their belongings.
- Receive and verify all general mail deliveries from FEDEX, UPS, USPS, etc.
- Monitor and respond to site building mechanical and electronic fire alarm systems, security cameras, alarms, and other security systems/devices. Promptly report any down equipment to the appropriate organization.
- Maintain key control for keys issued to security to support day-to-day operations.
- Conduct exterior foot patrols of building and property perimeter i.e., check the security of doors, lighting, etc. to ensure a safe/secure facility. At a minimum, exterior foot patrols will be conducted twice per shift.
- Respond and assist emergency responders. Participate in security, fire, medical, and other emergency incidents, including perimeter control and contacting internal and external emergency response personnel. Assist in the orderly evacuation of visitors and staff.
- Assisting in the prevention of loss, theft, or damage to Government property.
- Write incident reports and maintain other documentation as required by the post (i.e., desk journals/daily logs, pass down binders, visitors logs, material receipt logs, etc.). Desk journals, at a minimum, shall contain a record of ALL daily activities, special events/incidents, facility checks, and assumption post.
- Performing other designated guard functions, as specified.
Reporting, Coordination & Response.
- The Security Officer shall maintain communication with the onsite CDC AIP Principal Management Officer (PMO) regarding the day-to-day operations of the facility within the scope of the contract, unless otherwise directed by the SSO Contracting Officer Representative (COR) based in Atlanta, GA.
- The Security Officer assigned to the CDC AIP facility shall maintain communications with the Project Manager to report to the COR, AIP PMO, and other required organizations as appropriate regarding alarms, safety hazards, emergency events or suspicious activity and respond in accordance with CDC policies, plans, procedures, and post orders.
- The Security Officers shall ensure voice reports are made within fifteen (15) minutes or as soon as feasibly possible of an incident occurring and a written incident report is completed and submitted to the CDC/SSO Security Representative no later than four (4) hours after completion of event/incident.
- The Security Officer will maintain communications with the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) security personnel which provide vehicle patrols of the CDC AIP property.
- For any event involving the possible loss of life or property or if in doubt, the Security Officer should contact 911 for first responder assistance.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications
- Must be a United States Citizen.
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and annual physical
- Must meet all State of Alaska certification, qualification, training, and physical fitness requirements/standards necessary to perform security guard services.
- Must complete a NACI Background Investigation and receive a favorable suitability. CDC will initiate the request.
- Be able to acquire and maintain a Tier 1 Clearance.
- Be able to pass CDC's "Security Awareness Training" and "Safety Survival Skills" certification.
- Adhere to CDC network requirements to maintain access to the CDC networks.
- Sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
- Applicant must be proficient with computer applications, to include but not limited to Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Applicant must pass all government required training to include but not limited to, First Aid/CPR/AED Certification (every 2 years), Expandable Baton, and Contract Specific Training.

- No supervisory responsibilities.
