2024 hiring range: $23.92 - $25.50 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.2024 full salary range: $23.92 - $30.89 per hour.2025 rates will be determined once the union contract negotiations are finalized.

General Definition of Work

Performs work maintaining various fiscal and accounting processes for the Division, processing accounts payable and receivable, assisting with grant reporting, maintaining, and reconciling spreadsheets and Division accounts, drafting and delivering reports, and related work as apparent or assigned.

Work is performed under the general direction of the Fiscal Supervisor.

Essential Functions

  • Creates and maintains vendor accounts.
  • Codes accounts payable invoices and processes payment batches.
  • Assists with collecting and processing W-9 and 1099 documentation.
  • Identifies over-the-counter money and checks for weekly deposit; researches and reconciles remittance advices.
  • Provides administrative support completing claims, billing, and reporting functions for Family Services and Public Health programs and grants for reimbursement; codes and bills medical claims.
  • Processes Family Services and Public Health receipts and payments; reconciles Social Welfare bank statements and produces Rep Payee reports to Social Security Administration (SSA).
  • Creates, maintains, updates, and stores records, reports, files, and spreadsheets; tracks gift card receipts; prepares and delivers State required reports.
  • Determines distribution of Public Health payroll from Nightingale software data, processes billing to various grants.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED and moderate experience assisting with accounting and bookkeeping, processing billing, coding medical claims, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and accounting procedures.
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting and financial reporting standards.
  • Knowledge of grant accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of computer applications including spreadsheet, word processing, and accounting software applications.
  • Knowledge of data privacy practices and ability to maintain confidential documents and information.
  • Knowledge of County policies and ability to apply them to assigned work.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines related to assigned work.
  • Ability to complete assigned work with accuracy and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and communicate written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to analyze workflow problems and coordinate efforts to meet necessary deadlines.
  • Ability to organize work and adhere to reporting deadlines.
  • Ability to collect and organize data and convert to written reports.
  • Ability to analyze data for inquiries and reporting purposes.
  • Ability to work without close supervision.
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, officials, clientele, and the general public.
  • Ability to maintain a regular and timely work attendance.


Working Conditions

Physical Requirements and Activity

This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and pushing or pulling.

Sensory Requirements

Work requires ability to adjust focus; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
