Job Description

Great Basin College is seeking a responsible and skilled individual to support the Welding Technology Program within the Career and Technical Education (CTE) department. This position will assist in preparing labs, fabricating training simulators, providing hands-on support to students, and maintaining a safe and organized shop environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the daily operations and support of the Welding Technology Program, including preparing and maintaining lab spaces and equipment.
  • Provide assistance to students, faculty, and staff with welding-related projects and lab assignments.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment by adhering to safety protocols and monitoring tool usage.
  • Fabricate training aids and simulators to enhance the Welding Technology curriculum.
  • Monitor tool rooms and tool inventories, and initiate purchase orders to ensure the program has the necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Support instructors with student lab assignments and assist with general program needs.
  • Perform faculty committee work and other college-related duties as assigned.
  • Carry out any other tasks as directed by the department to ensure the smooth operation of the program.


Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Valid Nevada Driver's License.
  • Experience in at least one of the following technical areas: welding.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, while following department policies and program requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to safety in the workshop environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work with students, faculty, and staff.


Additional Information:
  • This is a full-time A contract position within the Career and Technical Education department at Great Basin College, working Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (with some flexibility/alternate hours) possible need for occasional evenings and/or Saturdays based on organizational needs.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to fostering a safe and efficient learning environment for students in the Welding Technology Program.


Travel

The position may require driving to other GBC campuses, with or without reasonable accommodation as per the Americans with Disabilities Act, with possible overnight stays to coordinate students and programs throughout the service area. There must be a commitment to the GBC mission to serve rural Nevada. The successful candidate will participate in several state-wide or national meetings each year that require overnight travel.

Compensation Grade

Administrative Faculty - B

The budgeted salary range for this position is $43,035 - $60,000

Salary is based on relatable education and experience, internal equity and budgets.

Grants-in-aid for Faculty Employees

Great Basin College is proud to provide a reduced-rate tuition benefit to faculty and qualified dependents. Faculty can take up to six credits per semester at a reduced rate. Dependents of faculty have unlimited credits, but in order to be eligible children must be unmarried and under the age of 24 and must receive at least 50% of their financial support from the employee and/or employee's spouse or domestic partner.

Newly hired faculty must assure that their official transcripts are sent by the degree granting institution(s) to Great Basin College Human Resources Office within 30 days from the effective date of employment. Regionally accredited institutions must have awarded academic degrees.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
