Job Description Summary

JLL’s Global Controllership team is seeking a Technical Accounting Director to provide thought leadership on complex and technical accounting issues and serve as a subject matter resource to influence business decisions through technical accounting impacts. In this position, you will research, analyze, and conclude on technical accounting topics, with a core focus of capturing and maximizing value to our organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to break down complex and non-routine technical accounting issues and work through analysis of issues with others in Technical Accounting.
  2. Assist the revenue team in reviewing complex revenue contracts to drive consistency and process improvement.
  3. Contribute to the annual goodwill impairment assessment, SEC filing disclosures, and the completion of the company’s audit process.
  4. Review and update accounting policies and collaborate across the organization to implement policies or related materials (procedures, FAQs, etc.) to improve clarity and consistency.
  5. Develop educational accounting materials to finance, business, and other key stakeholders.
  6. Monitor, assess, and support the implementation of new accounting pronouncements applicable to the company.
  7. Work in the fast-paced Global Controllership team with direct exposure to key leaders and executives.
  8. Involved in special projects across the company, as needed.

LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT

  1. Drive consistency of accounting policy implementation globally.
  2. Build U.S. GAAP understanding with stakeholders inside and outside of the Global Finance team.
  3. Establish and develop relationships with finance leadership at the Global level and within each of the company’s business segments.
  4. A desire to work within a diverse, collaborative, and driven professional environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Command of accounting principles and ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) issues and their resolution to finance and business leadership.
  2. Exceptional research skills related to technical accounting concepts.
  3. Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills with the ability to build consensus in a collaborative setting.
  4. Effective time management skills and a proactive self-starter to operate in a constantly changing environment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field with 8+ years of experience.
  2. Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  3. Proficiency in US GAAP.
  4. Experience performing in-depth accounting research and communicating findings and conclusions.
  5. Experience working with multinational corporations and SEC registrants.
