Position Summary:

Employee Benefits Corporation is hiring for a Scrum Master. The Scrum Master is responsible for facilitating daily, sprint, and planning interval (PI) agile practices to maximize the value delivery of our engineering teams. The Scrum Master will strive to optimize the velocity and predictability of value delivery by coaching and mentoring teams in best practices and identifying and eliminating impediments, and managing risks and dependencies between teams. The Scrum Master collaborates with Product Managers to ensure the engineering team's work is transparent and aligns with product strategy.

This person may work in our Middleton, WI office, or be remote, (located in WI, IL, or MN only) depending on availability. Must be available for one day of onsite training and onboarding in person at our Middleton, WI office as well as available as needed for team meetings. In office requirements are not expected to exceed more than once a quarter.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Acts as a servant leader who coaches and supports Agile engineering teams assigned to strategic enterprise initiatives
  • Facilitates and supports all scrum events on a regular cadence: Sprint Planning, Daily Syncs, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective, PI Planning
  • Ensures that sprint goals are created and effectively communicated for each sprint
  • Resolves team impediments with other team members, escalating issues to leadership as needed to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization
  • Captures and leverages team velocity data to assist with planning and tracking activities
  • Guides and coaches Delivery Teams on how to use agile practices and principles to deliver high quality products and services to our customers
  • Helps ensure that Scrum is understood and that assigned team members adhere to Scrum theory, values, principles and applicable EBC norms
  • Handles resistance to change tactfully and persistently
  • Contributes to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices within the organization

  • Maintain current working knowledge on company products, processes, policies, and agile best practices, tools and methodologies
  • Safeguard confidentiality, privacy and security of organization and customer personal information



Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline; may be substituted with four years relevant experience
  • 4 years of product or project development experience, or 3 years of project development experience on an Agile Team or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • At least 3 years of scrum master experience, leading all requisite scrum events
  • At least 3 years of experience using a tracking tool such as Azure DevOps or Jira
  • CSM, PSM or SSM Certification required
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating meetings at multiple levels of an organization and an understanding of facilitation techniques
  • Exemplifies and promotes Agile values and principles
  • Proven ability to hold teams or resources accountable with outstanding communication, negotiation and coaching skills
  • Knowledge of an agile framework or method (i.e., Scrum, Kanban), and the software development life cycle
  • Adept at story splitting, estimation, velocity, retrospection, and other Scrum techniques
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills, utilizing proper grammar, syntax, and excellent business acumen
  • Demonstrated capability for problem solving, decision making, sound judgement, assertiveness, and conflict resolution in collaborative and independent environments
  • Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills to include diplomacy, empathy, influencing and negotiation
  • Intermediate proficiency working with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Access to reliable transportation

Preferred:
  • Previous experience working with COBRA and tax advantaged benefit plans
  • Experience with SAFe or scaled Agile
  • Experience with Miro
  • Experience with Azure DevOps for metrics/reporting/dashboards
