Position Description The Department of English at the University of California Santa Barbara invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Literature and Mind studies. We welcome applications from scholars of literatures in English working in Cognitive Humanities and/or Health Humanities, broadly conceived, with expertise in any literary-historical period. Applications from scholars who pursue embodied cognition, race and mind, and/or animal minds are especially welcome. The successful candidate will be able to teach courses in Literature and Mind and contribute productively to our department's distinctive research and teaching centers. The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service as appropriate to the position. Qualifications Basic Qualifications
(required at time of application) Applicants should have completed all requirements for a PhD (or equivalent) except for the dissertation (or equivalent) in English or other closely related fields at the time of application. Preferred Qualifications PhD preferred. A demonstrated record of excellent research, evidence of outstanding teaching, including incorporation of culturally-literate and trauma-informed teaching methods, evidence of ability to enhance equity and mentor cultural and neuro-diverse students.
