Position Description: The Cloud Solution Architect, Senior Principal

is responsible for driving the strategic direction and implementation of cloud adoption across the organization. This role focuses on designing scalable, secure, and efficient cloud architectures, developing frameworks and governance models, and leading initiatives to integrate cloud-native technologies such as Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and DevSecOps practices. The architect works closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure that cloud solutions align with both technical and business requirements, fostering a culture of innovation and operational excellence. This role involves active collaboration, leveraging diverse perspectives to design and implement effective solutions that are informed by a thorough understanding of organizational needs and challenges. All solutions and implementations adhere to industry best practices, organizational governance, and security standards to deliver sustainable and forward-thinking cloud capabilities. Duties and Responsibilities: Design and refine Cloud Adoption Frameworks by developing comprehensive strategies and blueprints that ensure alignment with best practices and organizational needs. Develop cloud-computing policies and governance models by creating and refining frameworks, policies, and tools to ensure secure, compliant, cost-effective, and efficient cloud operations across the organization. Curate and maintain libraries of Landing Zone architectures and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates by building and managing reusable, scalable solutions to accelerate deployment and streamline cloud environments. Advise and support delivery teams by providing expert guidance throughout the design and implementation of cloud-based solutions, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with organizational goals. Integrate AI tools within cloud platforms by collaborating with teams to embed AI-driven solutions, driving innovation and enhancing cloud-based service capabilities. Support business development and proposals' teams by providing technical expertise in cloud solutions, advising on strategies for adoption, migration, and optimization, participating in pre-solicitation activities, developing technical solutions, and contributing to proposal writing and presentations. Lead strategic decisions in the company's Cloud Practice by serving as a thought leader, advising on key cloud initiatives, and driving the direction and growth of the organization’s cloud capabilities. Engage with clients by assisting delivery teams in discovery and requirements gathering activities to ensure alignment with client needs and project goals. Establish risk management frameworks by designing and implementing high-level strategies to mitigate potential risks associated with cloud adoption and operations. Champion operational excellence and innovation by fostering a culture of continuous improvement, efficiency, and creativity within cloud solution development and deployment. Collaborate with joint venture partners in the mentor-protégé program to build trust-based relationships, share expertise, foster knowledge exchange, ensure alignment on shared goals, and support the development of mutual capabilities to enhance program success. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. Masters preferred. At least 14+ years of experience in software development, cloud architecture, or related fields. If Masters is held, 12+ years. A minimum of 8+ years in a senior or principal-level architecture role, with a proven ability to design and implement complex cloud solutions. Deep expertise in cloud-native technologies, DevSecOps, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Proven experience in leading large-scale cloud initiatives, working with cross-functional teams, and aligning technology solutions with business objectives. Experience in creating cloud frameworks, governance models, and best practices for cloud adoption, as well as designing custom cloud architectures. Strong background in mentoring, coaching, and guiding teams in technical delivery while ensuring compliance with best practices. Solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and experience in security, scalability, and cost optimization in cloud environments. Cloud Solution Expertise: Proficiency in cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and architectures. DevSecOps and Agile: Experience with DevOps, Agile methodologies, and the integration of security in development pipelines. Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Experience with tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar IaC frameworks. Governance and Risk Management: Deep understanding of cloud governance models, risk management, and compliance requirements. Leadership and Mentorship: Ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive cloud adoption and solution delivery. Innovative Thinking: Ability to propose new technologies, strategies, and architectures that push the boundaries of cloud computing and software development. Competency (knowledge, skills, and abilities): Expertise in major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). Familiarity with cloud frameworks (e.g., AWS Well-Architected, FedRAMP, NIST). Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation). Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud cost management (FinOps). Knowledge of integrating AI/GenAI tools into cloud environments. Strong collaboration and teamwork abilities. Excellent communication with both technical and non-technical audiences. Strategic planning and problem-solving. Leadership and mentoring for teams and Communities of Practice. Technical writing for frameworks, playbooks, and proposals. Partner with teams to design user-centric, adaptable solutions. Align cloud strategies with organizational goals and evolving needs. Build reusable frameworks and templates for efficiency. Identify and mitigate risks while ensuring security and compliance. Compensation and Benefits: The projected compensation range for this position is $199,271.75 to $251,000.00 per year benchmarked in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The target salary for this role is $225,500.00. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
