We are looking for an SAP HANA Developer with a focus on developing and managing solutions on the SAP HANA in-memory platform. The primary responsibilities revolve around designing, developing, and optimizing data models, applications, and reports. Here’s a breakdown of the role and core skills for an SAP HANA Developer: Core Responsibilities

Data Modeling and Development

Design and implement data models (e.g., Calculation Views, Attribute Views, and Analytical Views) to meet business requirements. Develop complex SQL scripts, stored procedures, and user-defined functions in SAP HANA. Use HANA’s in-memory processing capabilities for high-speed data operations.

Database Administration and Performance Tuning

Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring efficient data processing and quick response times. Manage data loading and extraction, using tools like SAP Data Services or SLT (SAP Landscape Transformation) for real-time replication. Perform data backup, recovery, and version control.

ETL Processes and Data Integration

Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to ensure data consistency and accuracy in SAP HANA databases. Integrate SAP HANA with various data sources (e.g., SAP BW, S/4HANA, external databases). Utilize tools like SAP Smart Data Integration (SDI) and SAP Smart Data Access (SDA) for data ingestion and virtualization.

Application Development and Scripting

Develop applications on SAP HANA, using XSJS (Server-Side JavaScript) or SAP HANA Extended Application Services (XS Advanced). Design RESTful APIs and services for data access and integration with other applications. Use ABAP for HANA in cases where HANA is integrated with ECC or S/4HANA systems.

Reporting and Analytics

Build real-time reports and dashboards in tools like SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP Lumira, and SAP BusinessObjects. Develop calculated fields, variables, and restricted measures to support advanced reporting. Ensure data accuracy and consistency in reporting, with a focus on usability and performance.

SAP HANA Security and Compliance

Implement data access controls, user roles, and authorization privileges. Ensure compliance with organizational and industry data security standards, especially in regulated industries.

Key Skills

Technical Skills

Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL programming, with a focus on HANA-specific optimizations. Deep understanding of data modeling concepts, including Star Schema, Snowflake Schema, and normalization/denormalization. Knowledge of SAP HANA Studio, SAP Web IDE, and SAP HANA Cockpit for development and monitoring.

SAP HANA Tools and Technologies

Experience with SAP HANA database tools (Data Provisioning Agent, SDA, SDI). Familiarity with SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) for extended functionality and integration. Knowledge of SAP Fiori and UI5 for front-end applications, if required.

Performance Tuning and Troubleshooting

Proficient in optimizing SQL queries and HANA data models for performance. Understanding of SAP HANA’s in-memory architecture and how it impacts data processing.

Knowledge of SAP Ecosystem

Experience integrating SAP HANA with other SAP products like SAP S/4HANA, SAP BW, and SAP BusinessObjects. Familiarity with SAP’s HANA Cloud Platform and cloud migration strategies.

Soft Skills

Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities for complex data challenges. Strong communication skills to interact with business stakeholders and understand requirements. Ability to work within Agile development teams and collaborate across different departments.
