Hamilton, Bermuda We are looking for a motivated and capable Senior Actuary to work in our Bermuda Reinsurance pricing team. This role will support underwriting, reserving, risk management, and finance in Bermuda, and contribute to global segment initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded mix of technical abilities, interpersonal skills, and commercial awareness, allowing them to price complex reinsurance contracts, build relationships, deliver projects, and communicate insights that will help shape the portfolio and influence our strategic direction. Essential Responsibilities
Taking a lead role in pricing, as a trusted partner to underwriters across a wide range of lines of business, involving direct pricing using proprietary models, and reviewing the work of others. Working with underwriters and other actuaries to refine pricing assumptions and techniques in advance of renewal periods. Developing and maintaining pricing models, including in Excel and Python, either as part of the wider reinsurance segment or on regional projects. Assisting with the actuarial elements of the business planning process and assisting risk management with underwriting risk parameterization. Monitoring natural catastrophe exposures and man-made accumulations across the portfolio and producing reports as required. Assisting with the quarterly reserving process through analysis and review of accounts and feeding findings back into pricing analyses. Contributing to other ad-hoc work assigned to the actuarial team. Mentoring and assisting junior members of the actuarial team and coordinating and reviewing their work on various projects. Qualifications
Qualified Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or Casualty Actuarial Society (or equivalent). Minimum 7 years of industry experience in (re)insurance, with deep understanding of the (re)insurance market and its pricing practices. Reinsurance pricing experience in Property, Marine & Energy preferred. Expert proficiency in Excel and other MS Office applications, with experience manipulating large datasets in SQL. Proficiency in coding languages such as R or Python. Demonstrable aptitude for independently solving new and unexpected problems. High attention to detail, ensuring rigorous and accurate work. Desire to continuously learn and improve over time. Proactive and adaptable approach to organizing, planning, and keeping on top of multiple priorities to meet deadlines. Ability to simplify complex concepts and communicate them clearly and confidently to others, both verbally and in writing. Proven ability to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Robust interpersonal skills to build productive relationships across levels and time zones. Ability to influence a group of colleagues to achieve results and adapt communication approaches to varying situations. Drive to continuously initiate improvements and new ideas. Ability to quickly attain expert technical and industry knowledge in key areas and suggest enhancements to pricing approaches.
