General Information:

The chief objective of this position is to document and map Telecommunications Infrastructure across the campus of James Madison University utilizing cartographic and remote sensing principles.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities include entering confined spaces, diagramming/documenting confined spaces, GPS/Locate outside infrastructure, GPS/document Emergency Phones, diagramming/documenting inside plant infrastructure, importing and manipulating GPS data/files, mapping inside of M4 Solutions, data entry, and documenting GIS metadata. Boots and long pants will be required on site locations. Experience with Global Positioning System data collection methods and tools required. Experience with GIS data creation and manipulation required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team required. Experience with Locators a plus. Experience with Safe Software's. FME product a plus. Experience with M4Solutions a plus. Availability requirement, a minimum of 15.0 hours, no less than a 4.0 hour block.

Qualifications:

Physical Demands and Actions: Lifting more than 75lbs. Essential Pushing, Pulling, Standing, Lifting, Reaching, Sitting, Walking, Bending, Climbing, Repetitive Motion. Ability to maintain a safe work environment. Ability to work within confined spaces. Mental/Sensory Demands: Memory, Reasoning, Hearing, Visual, Reading, Analyzing, Logic, Verbal Communication, Written Communication.

Additional Posting Information:

A student can have several on campus jobs, but between all of these positions, the student cannot exceed 20 hours per week. This policy is in place to reinforce "academics first" for student employees.

Conditions of Employment:

Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).

Students must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA.
