Our rapidly growing portfolio of products provides a variety of popular adventures, including hop-on hop-off bus tours in NYC and London, special events such as Tea Around Town and North Pole Express, sightseeing and event cruises, bike rental and tours, walking tours, and Attraction Pass. As the Director, Maintenance and Fabrication, you will manage all maintenance, fabrication, and assets across our US divisions. The position will report directly to the SVP of Operations. We believe that in-person collaboration is critical for TopView Group’s continued success; therefore, this role will be a full-time, on-site position at our current maintenance facility located in Ridgewood, New York, with a potential move to Bronx, New York in the near future. Weekend and holiday availability are required from time to time.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead all maintenance, fabrication and asset lifecycle management activities for all types of vehicles including buses, and boats across all US geographies.
Ensure compliance with internal procedures and external agency standards from OSHA, EPA, DOT etc.
Strengthen current preventive and breakdown maintenance programs.
Establish predictive maintenance program.
Proliferate the use of CMMS system across all divisions and geographies, ensuring 100% adherence to the system in terms of work order and inventory management.
Work with equipment manufacturers and other agencies to strengthen the existing training programs for all maintenance and fabrication technicians.
Ensure all staff stays current with their training and certifications.
Plan, hire, mentor and performance manage the team to ensure the team is prepared to adequately handle current work and future growth of the business.
Support growth plans of the company by ensuring asset and workforce growth are in line with the company’s expansion plans.
Establish and sustain a culture of safety, quality, productivity and pride in workmanship across the board.
Continuously seek to improve financial performance by focusing on internal productivity and negotiating better pricing from vendors.
Standardize maintenance and fabrication activities as it relates to routine maintenance activities as well as launching new product offerings.
Collaborate effectively with internal teams, governmental agencies and 3rd party vendors.
Utilize data and system driven approaches to be proactive in preventing and resolving issues.
Participate in identification, negotiating and purchasing processes for new assets like buses, boats etc. to support company’s expansion plans.
Manage work schedule and payroll for the team.
Regularly visit and audit various maintenance sites to ensure compliance to established standards and protocols.
Continuously seek new ways to improve and automate the various systems installed on our vehicles.
Improve key performance indicators for the department, including but not limited to safety incident rate, policy adherence, PM compliance, frequency of breakdowns/usage, asset uptime %, fabrication compliance to design, budgetary compliance, inventory levels etc.
Establish and maintain a 5S program across all maintenance sites.
Ensure all work is done within specified budget.
Perform any other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
Degree in an applicable discipline.
10+ years of maintenance management experience, preferably in heavy vehicle (bus, truck, trailers etc.) maintenance dealing with fleets of over 100 units.
Deep knowledge of vehicular maintenance and fabrication operations including mechanical, electrical, powertrain and auxiliary systems.
Experience in implementing preventive and predictive maintenance systems.
First hand knowledge of CMMS systems for workflow and inventory management.
Working knowledge of various transit agency regulations like DOT.
Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations from agencies like EPA and OSHA.
Strong leadership experience in leading, motivating and performance managing teams of 50+.
Strong data analysis and presentation skills.
Able to perform root cause analysis and present logical conclusions from diagnosis.
Able to comprehend and interpret technical information present in a variety of forms, including but not limited to engineering drawings, engineering specifications, mathematical equations, architectural drawings etc.
Able to establish priorities and manage workload.
Experience with various productivity, project management and financial suites like Google Workspace, MSOffice, Monday.com, ClickUp.com, SAP, Netsuite etc.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Experience negotiating with vendors on price, quality and payment terms.
Experience managing a union workforce (preferred).
Able to perform physical aspects of the role, including but not limited to regularly lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
