Our rapidly growing portfolio of products provides a variety of popular adventures, including hop-on hop-off bus tours in NYC and London, special events such as Tea Around Town and North Pole Express, sightseeing and event cruises, bike rental and tours, walking tours, and Attraction Pass. We have recently expanded to Philadelphia and Washington DC and are looking to expand to many other exciting locations. As we experience this exceptional growth, we are seeking a dynamic and skilled professional to join our team as the Director of Operations - Transportation. As the Director of Operations, you will manage all bus and bike tour operations in New York and other US cities. You will be responsible for all aspects of the bus operations with the primary focus on improving operational efficiency and service level enhancements. The Director of Operations will also be leading the launch of bus operations in other US locations, including hiring and training of the new teams, and setting up the operations. Additionally, the individual will participate in identifying and developing new revenue growth opportunities in collaborating with other teams. We believe that in-person collaboration is critical for TopView Group’s continued success, therefore this role will be a full time, on-site position at our office located in Midtown Manhattan, New York. Weekend and holiday availability is required from time to time.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead all operations for sightseeing tours in NYC including all bus tours, bike tours as well as experiential products like Tea Around Town, North Pole Express etc. Responsibilities include asset management, workforce management, forecasting, scheduling, and performance level monitoring.

Establish and implement short and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures.

Ensure compliance with internal procedures, external agency standards from OSHA, DOT etc. as well as all licensing and permitting requirements.

Establish and sustain a culture of safety, quality, productivity and customer centricity in the department.

Manage workforce planning, recruiting, training, schedule management, performance management and payroll processes for the team.

Lead and guide various continuous improvement initiatives to improve financial performance by focusing on internal team productivity, automation and better pricing from key suppliers.

Create and implement internal reporting systems and dashboards for KPI monitoring.

Continuously seek new ways to improve and automate the various systems installed on our vehicles.

Enable expansion efforts of the company by obtaining required permits and licenses in new geographical locations and by ensuring asset and workforce growth are in line with the company’s expansion plans.

Participate in identification, negotiating and purchasing processes for new assets like buses etc. to support company’s expansion plans.

Collaborate effectively with various internal teams, governmental agencies and 3rd party vendors to foster development of new products and refinement of existing ones.

Drive data and system driven approaches to proactively prevent issues and enhance service levels.

Manage union relationship and participate in union negotiations.

Represent the company professionally to governmental agencies, other business entities and the community at large.

Respond to daily operational developments and emergencies.

Perform any other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

Degree in an applicable discipline - preferably in an engineering, business, operations management or related field.

10+ years of operations management experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Strong people leadership experience in hiring, managing, motivating and performance managing teams of 100+.

Exceptional data analysis and presentation skills.

Ability to establish priorities, manage workload, and respond with a sense of urgency in a fast paced environment.

Proven ability in performing root cause analysis and presenting logical conclusions.

Openness to work flexible (including weekends) and extended hours, as needed and be available to respond to situations.

Working knowledge of various transit agency regulations like DOT, NYSDOT, etc.

Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations from agencies like EPA and OSHA.

Experience with various productivity, project management and financial suites like Google Workspace, MSOffice, Monday.com, ClickUp.com, SAP, Netsuite etc.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Experience negotiating with vendors on price, quality and payment terms.

Experience managing a union workforce (preferred).

Able to perform physical aspects of the role, including but not limited to regularly lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
