Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Operations Data Analyst to join our team at Mach Natural Resources, a leading oil and gas company. The successful candidate will be responsible for writing complex queries, analyzing operational data, and building interactive tools and dashboards in Power BI and Spotfire to support operational decision-making. This role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams to optimize performance, improve efficiency, and drive data-driven insights across our operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to extract and analyze data from various operational databases, including but no limited to production, well records, and financial data.
  • Design and develop interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations in Power BI and Spotfire to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and other critical metrics.
  • Ensure the effective presentation of data to drive actionable insights for operations management and executive teams.
  • Integrate and automate data pipelines from multiple sources to ensure real-time or near-real-time data availability for operations teams.
  • Collaborate with IT and data engineering teams to streamline data flows and enhance the efficiency of reporting processes.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations to improve operational processes, efficiency, and performance.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to understand their needs and tailor dashboards, reports, and queries to align with operational goals.
  • Maintain data integrity and ensure that reports and dashboards reflect accurate, timely, and consistent information.
  • Establish and maintain documentation for data sources, data flow processes, and dashboard functionalities.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends in data analytics, visualization tools, and the oil and gas industry to continuously improve reporting processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to data discrepancies, report performance, or tool functionality.
Experience & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field. Relevant certifications or training in data analytics or business intelligence tools is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Data Analyst, Operations Analyst, or similar role, ideally within the oil and gas industry.
  • Familiarity with operational data sets in the oil and gas sector (e.g., production, drilling, completions, finance).
  • Strong experience in SQL and querying relational databases and data warehouses (e.g., SQL Server).
  • Proficiency in Power BI and Spotfire, including report/dashboard development, data modeling, and DAX expressions.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, R, or similar for data analysis is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
