Salary:
$310,000.00 - $435,000.00 per year Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive patent portfolio management advice to life sciences clients, including strategic planning and execution across multiple jurisdictions. Lead client engagements focusing on IP lifecycle planning for second-generation drugs and biologics. Conduct in-depth due diligence and deliver strategic counseling on transactions, potential infringements, defense tactics, and alternative strategies. Represent various stakeholders in high-stakes patent disputes before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, focusing on post-grant proceedings and other contentious matters. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop tailored patent protection strategies, enhancing asset value and competitiveness in the market. Advise on non-infringement, invalidity, and competitive positioning to protect client interests and support business objectives. Minimum Position Qualifications: JD from a top-tier law school, with an exemplary academic record. Active Bar admission in California. Minimum of 4 years of significant experience in patent counseling and prosecution in the life sciences field. Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a closely related discipline. Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Preferred Qualifications: Substantial experience in representing biotechnology and pharmaceutical entities in complex patent matters. Extensive background in international patent portfolio development and management. Previous pharmaceutical industry experience is highly desirable. Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a capacity to handle complex legal and scientific information. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to effectively manage client relationships and work collaboratively in a team. Proven ability to strategize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects efficiently. Demonstrated proficiency in conducting detailed legal research and analysis.
