Scientist- Vaccines Location : Waltham, MA About the Job Sanofi, Vaccines R&D, North America is seeking an experienced, highly motivated and creative Scientist to support the R&D company pipeline objectives to join the Global Immunology function. This is a unique position in which the candidate will be required based on a working knowledge of standard laboratory practices to plan and perform at the bench a diverse set of immune assays using established or in development protocols and analyze/interpret experimental data using standard analytical tools with limited supervision from staff scientists. The primary objectives for this individual will be to support progression of the non-clinical phase projects within Sanofi, Vaccines R&D portfolio. The major goals will include in vitro and in vivo characterization of vaccine candidates and therapeutics against viral respiratory targets through development and execution of immunological assays. This candidate is expected to have ability to work as a part of a team to develop and execute immunological binding and cell-based functional assays, perform cell culture, coordinate and facilitate execution of animal studies. Experience with laboratory automation equipment and operational knowledge of immunoassay-based instruments including multi-mode plate readers, is desirable. A passion for bench work, data analysis, and reporting excellence is a must. Main Responsibilities: Laboratory research/Assay development/Immunomodels development With limited oversight, collaborate on project design, planning and execution of studies. With limited oversight, exercise creativity when devising new protocols and/or optimizing assays for stronger performance. With manager oversight, design and perform experiments that comply with SOPs and maintain scientific norms (contains appropriate positive and negative controls, replicates, standards, etc.) to appropriately achieve goals set forth in study plans. Exercise knowledge in selection, design, execution, and analysis of experiments that contribute to project goals. Perform a wide variety of technical procedures and operate a wide variety of lab instrumentation/computer platforms related to Immunology, Virology and Molecular Biology. Support the development and optimization of automation protocols for immune assays. Provide guidance to more junior personnel regarding protocol development and execution. Participate in monitoring and maintaining facility related aspects of the lab and lab equipment as needed. Project involvement Participate in Global Immunology and project team meetings. Collaborate on project reports, presentations, publications, patents, and grant applications. Perform reviews of relevant literature for specific projects. With some oversight, perform data analysis and visualization in support of project goals. Contribute to implementation of lean and agile principles. Quality and HSE Comply with the company safety policies and minimize risk to self, others and the environment, consistent with HSE policies, community and industry standards. Document laboratory experiments in Benchling in a timely manner: analyze and summarize experimental outcomes, record experimental procedures and raw and analyzed data. Participate, as needed, in generating SOPs and other required documents. Stay compliant in applicable trainings. About You Education and experience: B.Sc. with +4 years of relevant experience in a laboratory environment or a M.Sc. with +1 year of experience in Immunology, Virology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Cell Biology or applied science field based on the specific requirements of the job function. Experience with cell-based and serum-based immunological assays for viral pathogens (flow cytometry, microneutralization, plaque assays, ELISA, multiplex (Luminex and MSD), automation and mammalian cell culture. Familiarity with multimode readers such as SpectraMax i3, Celigo and Cytation7. Strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration, leadership and problem-solving skills are required.
