Health Sciences Data Scientist

Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Health Sciences, the Health Sciences Data Scientist develops complex reports integrating data from various data systems across the university, implementing programs to process and manipulate large datasets, writing queries for extracting data, preparing static reports with both tabular and graphical presentations as well as dynamic reports to provide review and assessment of diversity equity, and inclusion initiatives. The Health Sciences Data Scientist provides leadership for the review, analysis, and assessment of diversity and inclusion initiatives that focus on student success, campus climate, diversity recruitment, hiring and retention, and procurement practices. The incumbent provides guidance for analyzing, evaluating, adopting, and integrating effective equity and inclusion practices. Specific attention is prioritized on the use of an equity lens-based approach to policy review and assessment. The Health Sciences Data Scientist works collaboratively within the Schools of the Health Sciences and other partners to coordinate and develop strategies and replicate and promote best practices. Duties: Conduct literature reviews: Compile, analyze, and synthesize literature to support research initiatives within the Health Sciences schools. Develop a research library: Create and maintain an organized digital library of relevant research materials for faculty and administrative use. Analyze faculty, staff, and student recruitment and retention initiatives: Perform data analysis on the impact and success initiatives, focusing on recruitment, retention, and diversity outcomes. Track success metrics: Monitor key performance indicators related to the success of recruited faculty, staff and students, e.g. for faculty - research outputs, promotions, and collaborative efforts. Dashboard development: Design and implement dashboards to visualize key data trends and insights for Health Sciences leadership and stakeholders. Create data-driven deliverables: Produce reports, presentations, and other deliverables to communicate findings and recommendations to Health Sciences schools leadership. Collaborate with stakeholders: Work closely with academic and administrative teams to support data needs for strategic planning and decision-making. Provide data support and analysis for research and publication: Assist faculty and researchers in the Health Sciences schools by analyzing data, preparing datasets, and offering statistical insights for research projects and publications, ensuring accuracy and rigor in scholarly output. Job Summary

Assists in the execution of research objectives, data collection, and data management. Performs routine procedures, statistical analysis, scientific analysis, and reporting. Integrates data and data sets, performs descriptive and exploratory analysis, and creates routine reports and analysis reporting tools. Utilizes statistical software and adheres to all protocols. Essential Functions

The Health Sciences Data Scientist is responsible for leading the information coalition, repository development, and data analysis needs of the Office of Health Sciences Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (OHSDEI), and completes annual reports to track all metrics related to equity, diversity, and inclusion. To be effective, the Health Sciences Data Scientist will be expected to run statistics, manipulate data, and will need experience using statistical software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R, or Python), data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau), and querying tools (e.g., SQL). The Health Sciences Data Scientist normalizes a schedule of data collection across all stakeholders and helps others understand how to utilize data and findings to advance OHSDEI goals.
