The Director plays a pivotal role in driving institutional efforts to advance learner success and enhancing the digital learner experience. This role is responsible for supervising the strategic direction, implementation, and management of technology solutions to support learner recruitment, engagement, retention, and success for CU Boulder. The Director works with the Assistant Vice Provost and Assistant Vice Chancellor (AVP/AVC) for Academic Technology and Student Success, represents the AVP/AVC regarding learner engagement technology in their absence, and is a key member of OIT's Operational Steering Team (OST). The Director works closely with campus partners in strategizing and delivering a technology ecosystem that enables a connected, accessible, and personalized learner experience. The Director leads a team responsible for designing, deploying, and supporting a learner lifecycle CRM ecosystem, including web development applications and other services and systems that are integral to University functions supporting learner success, communications, and outreach. Currently on campus, we are utilizing Salesforce as one of our primary CRM technologies. This position has about $4M in budgetary responsibility and approximately 17 FTE reporting directly or indirectly to it. Key responsibilities include implementing and adhering to common OIT service management processes related to service support, operations, project management, and analysis. The role demands participation in defining these processes, particularly in crafting variations to support University services. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be Strategic Planning and Leadership Develop and implement a strategic vision for learner engagement technology that aligns with OIT's vision and institutional goals and enhances the learner experience. Lead strategic engagements with departments, schools, and colleges at CU Boulder to identify and prioritize technology needs and opportunities for enhancing and supporting learner success through innovative technologies. Cultivate trusted partnerships with academic and administrative groups across CU Boulder to align learner engagement technology efforts with the university's long-term goals. Build and maintain strong relationships with faculty, staff, and students to understand their needs and gather feedback on technology initiatives. Provide leadership to the Learning Engagement Technology (LET) team, focusing on aligning team objectives with OIT's strategic vision and the campus CRM strategy, while fostering professional growth and development. Stay abreast of emerging trends and developments in learner engagement technology, including CRM systems and web technologies, to ensure that CU Boulder remains at the forefront of educational innovation. Develop and maintain key partnerships and performance agreements with vendors and contractors, ensuring alignment with CU Boulder's CRM strategy and vision. Promote the recognition of CU Boulder's work in learner engagement by participating in discussions with peer institutions and in industry conferences and events. Technology Implementation, Management, and Support Supervise the selection, development, implementation, and integration of technologies aimed at improving student recruitment, engagement, and retention, following campus strategies and governance structures, and in alignment with the broader vision of CU Boulder. Manage the lifecycle of learner engagement technology systems, including procurement, deployment, maintenance, and retirement. Ensure alignment with CU Boulder's IT infrastructure, standards, principles, and service management practices. Ensure that technologies are accessible, user-friendly, and effectively support learner engagement. Guide the configuration, customization, and integration of CRM systems to meet the needs of learner success programs and initiatives. Act as an expert for integrated tools, directing the university in the optimization of engagement tools and processes to support campus initiatives. Be responsible for the overall implementation and ongoing maintenance of web technologies to support learner-facing websites and portals. Guide the overall direction of the engagement technology services and enhancement projects, focusing on alignment with CU Boulder's long-term objectives and partner engagement. Collaborate with Data & Analytics and other OIT teams to ensure the effective integration of the learner engagement systems with other institutional systems and databases. Continuous Improvement, Operational and Budget Management Establish metrics and evaluation processes to assess the effectiveness and impact of learner engagement technologies on program outcomes. Lead the continuous improvement of learner engagement technology services and systems at CU Boulder. Review and analyze performance metrics and customer feedback to advise strategic decisions and shape long-term technology roadmaps. Coordinate regular reviews and updates of technology resources to ensure they remain relevant and effective. Develop and manage the budget for learner engagement technology initiatives, based on program objectives and key results, ensuring efficient allocation and use of resources. Partner with OIT FPP to ensure efficient and effective vendor management. Lead planning activities, analyzing potential impacts on budget, resources, and staffing, and ensuring alignment with OIT and university-wide strategies. Supervise the operational aspects of learner engagement technology services, including staffing, resource allocation, and vendor relationships. Ensure compliance with institutional policies and external regulations related to technology use and data security. Prepare and present reports, dashboards, and metrics to demonstrate the impact of technology on learner success outcomes to advise strategic decision-making.
