This full-time position reports to the Director of Financial Aid and is responsible for the management of the Financial Aid Advising area. Responsibilities involve formulating policies, advancing project management, promoting employee growth, overseeing customer relationships, and managing additional tasks as required. The Associate Director plays an important role in ensuring that core responsibilities of processing aid and serving students are supported with adequate resources and training. This key leadership position supports the director on media and legal issues and is part of the leadership team for the Office of Financial Aid. This position maintains a thorough and current working knowledge of all Title IV federal, State of Colorado, and institutional rules, regulations and procedures to ensure accurate release of information and program compliance. The Office of Financial Aid is committed to helping students pay for college by building innovative programs to support access and graduation, empowering students to make healthy financial decisions, investing in the development of our staff, and engaging lawmakers and partners to improve aid policy! We coordinate over $425M in grants, scholarships, work-study and loans for over 20,000 students each year. Our staff consists of 38 full-time professional employees and 50-60 student employees. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Advising Leadership & Management Set customer service expectations and ensure that service level goals are monitored and achieved. Collaborate with other functional areas within the Office of Financial Aid to ensure excellent customer service. Collaborate with communications area to ensure customer feedback is provided about messaging. Collaborate with other campus departments to ensure a positive student experience. Use evaluation tools and metrics to identify gaps in service. Identify needs, make recommendations, and implement new processes or procedures. Assign work or projects to team members. Support the administration of athletic aid and ensure compliance with Big 12 and NCAA rules and regulations. Support the administration of student employment and work study programs. Responsible for hiring, evaluating, training, and coaching direct reports. Set expectations for employee development. Responsible for elevated customer concerns. Ensure student employees are adequately trained. Office Leadership Foster an inclusive, creative, success-oriented environment. Provide leadership as part of the OFA management team. Responsible for identification, analysis and implementation of financial aid policies. Interpret regulations and ensure compliance with current rules. Analyze, design and implement new financial aid initiatives. Lead office-wide projects by utilizing project management techniques. Assist the Director with legal and media inquiries as needed. Represent the Office of Financial Aid on campus initiatives. Outreach/Partnership Cultivation Identify key partners and provide outreach and training opportunities. Maintain a strong partnership with various campus partners. Serve as a liaison and primary student employment contact. Set expectations for providing outreach presentations. Professional Development Participate in training seminars and conferences for professional development. Attend staff meetings and retreats. Collaborate with supervisor to determine areas for professional growth. Assist in the development of advising related trainings. This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid and directly supervises 3 FTE, with an overall unit of 12 FTE and 20-25 student employees. What You Should Know

The salary range for this position is $100,600 - $109,000 per year. Benefits

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. Five plus years of financial aid experience in a higher education setting. Supervisory experience required. What You Will Need

Strong computer skills including software, email communication tools, and web-based applications. Working knowledge of Federal Title IV financial aid programs and regulations. Strong leadership, supervisory, budgetary, staffing and planning skills. Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, institutional rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Ability to gain confidence and trust of others. Ability to exemplify excellence through diversity. Build partnerships and work collaboratively with others. Communicate key information in a timely fashion. What We Would Like You to Have

A Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education. Six years of job-related experience. Experience with student employment and job placement services. Thorough knowledge of State of Colorado financial aid regulations. Experience with federal financial aid data systems. Experience with the administration of athletic aid and NCAA rules. Experience using PeopleSoft student information system. Leadership credential or certification. NASFAA credentials. Bilingual. Special Instructions
