Sr. Technical Program Manager, Residential Software

Tesla is seeking a Technical Project Manager to create and manage the software roadmap for Tesla's Residential Energy business. This role will report into the operations side of the business and work closely with key stakeholders across the Direct Installation and Channel Business to understand, document and prioritize IT software asks. They will then also work with the IT team to ensure priorities are executed and deployment targets are met. They will host weekly update meetings to both teams to ensure progress of key initiatives are visible to all stakeholders. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong project management expertise and an ability to execute on complex technical initiatives while managing a dynamic and evolving product roadmap.
Responsibilities
Own and maintain the software development roadmap for Tesla's Residential Energy solutions, ensuring alignment with company goals and customer needs. Prioritize features, enhancements, and bug fixes based on business impact, customer feedback, and technical constraints Work closely with engineering, product management, operations, and business teams to define requirements, scope projects, and ensure timely delivery of software features and updates. Act as the primary liaison between the software development team and business stakeholders Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocation strategies. Oversee the execution of software projects from inception to launch, ensuring adherence to timelines, budget, and quality standards Regularly update internal stakeholders (executive leadership, product teams, and external partners) on project status, risks, and successes. Create reports and presentations to communicate progress and outcomes Identify potential risks to the software development timeline or product quality and proactively resolve issues. Implement mitigation strategies and escalate problems as needed to ensure successful project delivery Work to streamline processes and improve project management methodologies. Leverage data-driven insights to refine product roadmaps, enhance project planning accuracy, and drive operational efficiency Requirements
5+ years of experience in project management, preferably in software development for technology or energy-related products. Experience managing software roadmaps and complex projects in an agile or hybrid environment is strongly preferred Understanding of software development processes, technologies (e.g., cloud platforms, IoT, mobile applications), and energy management systems is a plus. Familiarity with Tesla's energy products or similar technologies in the residential energy sector is advantageous Strong knowledge of project management frameworks (e.g., Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall) and tools (e.g., JIRA, Asana, Microsoft Project). PMP, Scrum Master, or similar certifications are a plus Exceptional communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Ability to inspire and motivate teams, manage expectations, and clearly articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders Ability to handle ambiguity, navigate challenges, and think critically to drive successful outcomes. $100,000 - $216,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
