PRN Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department

Marymount Hospital’s Emergency Department combines advanced technology with expert caregivers to provide rapid, specialized diagnosis and treatment for medical emergencies including heart attacks and strokes.

With patients’ needs as its focus, our Emergency Department is located in the Critical Care Tower for safe, rapid patient transfer to the hospital Intensive Care Unit if necessary.

From acute trauma to family illness, board-certified emergency physicians, specially trained nurses and clinical caregivers treat a wide range of emergency conditions 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

A caregiver in this position works

days/evenings/nights/weekends from 7:00am – 7:30pm or 7:00pm – 7:30am.

A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide direct nursing care.

Implement and

monitor

patient care plans.

Monitor,

record

and communicate patients’ conditions.

Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).

External applicants: two years of recent related nursing experience.

Internal applicants with less than two years’ experience, but post orientation/90-day probationary period, could be considered with the Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval.

Will consider military RN experience.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within one year of employment.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within one year of employment.

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).

Physical Requirements: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids. Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
