POSITION SUMMARY:
The Design Manager is a highly skilled position that is responsible for guiding both corporate and franchise projects thru the design and permitting process. The position includes developing site plans, kitchen floor plans, equipment schedules and exterior renderings for both company and franchise restaurants as well as coordinating with external architects and engineering teams to make sure that plans reflect current brand standards. In addition, the design manager will be responsible for working with the external architectural and engineering teams and the Checker's CM's on the company's reimage program to review plans and coordinate the permitting process, to ensure timely receipts of permits.
The design manager, in conjunction with the CM's will work in coordinating the design review process to ensure that both the external and internal design elements of both company and franchise restaurants follow the appropriate brand standards as developed by Checkers. The design manager will also be responsible for working with the exterior design teams from time to time to ensure that the designs are kept fresh and up to date.
The design manager will report directly to the Sr Construction Manager and will also support the other Checker's construction managers.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:Prepares initial site plans for committee approvalsPrepares kitchen plans including equipment schedulesPrepares interior dining room layouts with finish schedules based on the most current company standardsPrepares exterior renderings for conversion, in lines and end caps restaurants for both company and franchiseesReviews Architecture & Engineering plans and coordinates with CM's on plan reviewWorks with outside architect and engineering firms to update prototypical plansAssists construction team in value engineering current designs and/or sourcing alternative materials/productsAssists franchisees in selecting of Architecture & Engineering firmsTracks timelines for all projects during the design and permitting periodsPerforms other duties as assignedEMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Knowledge and Experience
Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience Architectural/Design Management experience in the restaurant industry, preferably QSR.Demonstrates, through prior work history, the ability to multi task on several projects on a multi-faceted basis.Excellent written and oral presentations skills.Working knowledge of Autocad is a must. Working knowledge of Revit is a plus.Computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Project)Travel is required and is estimated to be 20% - 30%.Education
High School Diploma, Bachelor's or Associates degree from a four year college or university preferred.Essential Physical Requirements
Ability to read, analyze and interpret written information such as procedure manuals, Company communications or governmental regulations.Ability to frequently use hands to finger, handle or feel.Ability to sit for prolonged periods in one location which may be restricted to the employee's workstation.Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
