Summary: The main function of a Network Engineer is to determine user requirements and design specifications for computer networks. A typical Network Engineer is responsible for planning and implementing network upgrades.
Job Responsibilities:
Adjust network sizes to meet volume or capacity demandsCommunicate with customers, sales staff, or marketing staff to determine customer needsCoordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs or upgradesDesign, build, or operate equipment configuration prototypes, including network hardware, software, servers, or server operation systemsDetermine specific network hardware or software requirements such as platforms, interfaces, bandwidths, or routine schemasDevelop and implement solutions for network problemsQualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required5+ years' experience required Network/systems administration/related work experience requiredCisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification a plusKnowledge of computer hardware as it relates to data storageKnowledge of computer software, such as configuration management software, desktop communications software, operating system software and internet directory services software
