Job Description

STC is a science and engineering research and services support company with proven expertise and experience spanning research, development, test, and evaluation in areas including aerospace engineering, earth and atmospheric sciences, chemical and biological defense, military systems and technology, and software development.

Employment Category: Full Time / ExemptLocation: Onsite, Aberdeen Proving Ground - Edgewood Area, MDTravel: Up to 25%Security Clearance: DoD Secret Eligible, Active clearance preferred.Citizenship: Must be a U.S. CitizenJob Description:Lead and support development of software applications and integration of diverse hardware and software technologies for chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) defense systems. Work as part of a government scientific research and development team and apply versatile engineering, software development, and computer networking skills to lab and field work in support of multiple projects to meet project schedules and deliver advanced technology solutions. Field work can last a week or more at a time and include system testing and military technology demonstrations.

Develop software applications in Java, Python, and other languages to integrate and network various CBRN systems and technologies.Lead the integration of applications, sensors, and platforms into operational systems.Develop Android and web applications and integrate these with various software and hardware according to customer requirements.Design mechanical and electrical interfaces and partsTest systems in the lab and in the field to demonstrate functionality and to collect customer feedback.Work as part of a close-knit team in an in-person and open-concept computer lab setting akin to pair programming to develop mission critical systems.Remain current on upcoming technologies and related subjects in the literature and news.Assist with the preparation and presentation of training and demonstrations.Bonus points if you have:

Experience working with CBRN defense systemsExperience working with or in the military2+ years of coding experience with Kotlin, Rust, C/C++, or other desired languages3+ years of CAD experience and 3D printing experience3+ years of electronics, microcontroller/single-board computers (SBCs) /embedded systems and wireless radio device or software-defined radio expertise3+ years of experience in two or more fields of engineering/science and interdisciplinary workActive DoD Security clearanceJob Requirements

Job Requirements:

Must be a US Citizen eligible for a DoD security clearance7+ years of experience writing code, hardware/software integration, and systems development and testing (5+ with MS degree)2+ years leading development and integration projects5 years Java and Python coding experience2+ years of Android development and web (JavaScript, HTML/CSS, etc.) development experience3+ years of Linux/Unix and shell scripting experienceElectrical/electronics and computer engineering expertiseCAD and mechanical modeling and fabrication experienceExperience with agile, sprints, aggressive schedules, and KanbansExperience leading code reviews and managing merge requestsExcellent oral and written communication skills in EnglishDemonstrated ability to multitask and complete work within scheduleEducation:Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer/electrical/software engineering or a related discipline. Master's degree is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits:
