Chicago, IL (3 days/week onsite in the loop; 2 days WFH)

Summary

The Data Scientist position is an integral part of the Data Program team that is responsible for developing and implementing data driven solutions that drive efficiency, improve decision making and provide valuable insights across various administrative business groups and legal practices. This person will use a mix of statistics, machine learning and large language models to create systems and build models that capitalize on both structured and unstructured data.

The role will work closely with the appropriate stakeholders to understand their questions and use tools and frameworks to turn disparate data sets into objective answers that help make informed decisions.

What you'll be doingUtilize statistical analysis and machine learning techniques to extract meaningful insights from large datasets related to legal cases, client behavior and market trendsArchitect, develop and deploy models and algorithms using proprietary data to access model quality. Validate and iterate on the models createdClean, preprocess and transform raw data into a usable format, ensuring data quality and integrityDevelop predictive data models to forecast outcomes, identify potential risks and optimize strategiesCreate informative data visualizations and dashboards to present complex data in a clear and actionable manner to stakeholdersCollaborate with business stakeholders and legal experts to understand their data needs and translate them into valuable solutionsDevelop classification and regression models leveraging established and emerging data science methodologies.Analyze structured and unstructured data sourcesDesign and automate our dataset analysis and insight delivery process to enable effective management of a broader range of data types and increased data flowContribute to the development of the firm's data strategy, including but not limited to, data collection, storage and privacy practicesStay updated with the latest trends in data science, legal technology, and relevant tools to enhance our data capabilitiesEnhance documentation procedures, codebase, and adherence to best practices to promote and facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure the upkeep of an organized and reproducible working environmentSkills we're seeking

Bachelor's Degree is required, Master's Degree preferred, ideally in an area of Data Science, Computer Science, Math or Statistics5+ years of experience in a Data Science, Client or Data Engineering roleMust have at least 2 years of experience with predictive analytics

Must have strong Python experience, and experience with the PyData stack, ideally with PandasProven experience developing and validating linear and non-linear regression and classification modelsMust have strong SQL experienceNice to haves

Experience with Data Science/Client in regulated environmentsExperience working in Azure environmentsExperience with SnowflakeExperience with Informatica
