Overview:Under general supervision, the IT Business Analyst (BA) analyzes enterprise-wide customer business needs & participates in the planning, design & implementation of new or enhanced systems or reporting/analysis on multiple IT development projects.
Responsibilites:
Participates in the demand management process to assist the business in establishing business cases, scope, and requirements relating to requests for new systems or existing system changesPrimarily support IT acquisition of products or services by developing scopes of workConsults with project teams and architects to identify currently know solutions or performs market researchGathers information/documentation from vendors or contractorsTranslates business needs into requirements and functional/non-functional specificationsGather, clarify/define, and document scope, business scenarios, workflows, requirements, etc.Conduct interviews, workshops, and JAD sessionsAnalyzes and validates business requirements and processes, identifies opportunities for process enhancement to benefit the Department, identifies gaps in informationUses a structured process to define priorities and opportunities and/or works with stakeholders to define the minimum viable product (MVP) and options for improvements via subsequent phasesProduces required work artifactsCommunicates and presents client's business requirements to implementation teamsCreates systems models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to developers and system architectsWorks with the team to define acceptance criteria or other metrics/performance goals for the systemProvides status updates, completes weekly work time logs, updates work tickets weeklyProvide estimates and target dates for task completion for incorporation into project schedules or work tickets
Qualifications:
BS/BA in a relevant discipline (Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, etc.)IT busines analysis work experience in software development, project management, or technology implementations/supportExperience with Microsoft Office Professional, including VisioExperience with data and business process analysisExperience in developing statements/scope of work for contracting and procurementWork experience in reviewing software license, service, or support level agreementsExperience with procurements or solicitations, developing scopes of work or statements of work.Strong analytical/technical skills, able to provide impact/risk assessmentsExcellent communication, teamwork, and collaboration skillsStrong problem solving and organizational skillsDetail oriented, analytical mindsetble to manage multiple projects/tasks at once; Results oriented and highly organized; Able to work in a fast-paced environmentStrong interviewing, active listening, communication, presentation, moderating meetings, and interpersonal skills - influencing, negotiating, etc.Strong written communication skills with the ability to prepare presentations and write scope/specifications for procurement/contractingble to provide portfolio or examples of scopes of work or statements of work they prepared.
